Position Type: Secretarial/Clerical/Substitute Secretary Date Posted: 6/12/2024 Location: Harrison County Schools Central Office County: Harrison County Schools TITLE: Substitute Secretary MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Personnel employed in any elementary, secondary, kindergarten, nursery, special education, vocational or any other school as a secretary. The duties may include performing general clerical tasks, transcribing from notes or stenotype or mechanical equipment or a sound-producing machine, preparing reports, receiving callers and referring them to proper persons, operating office machines, keeping records and handling routine correspondence. Type straight copy at a minimum rate of 60 words per minutes (WPM) with no more than one error per minute on a five minute writing. Applicants must be computer literate. There is nothing implied herein that would prevent such employees from holding or being elevated to a higher classification. IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: School Principal SELECTION: The position is filled by the Board of Education upon recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools. SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT: Based upon service salary schedule, experience, and competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation; 200 day employment term Harrison County Service Salary Schedule TERM: 200/240 day employment term. FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: 1. Performs general clerical tasks, transcribes, prepares reports, receives callers and refers them to proper persons, operates office machines, keeps records and handles routine correspondence. 2. Maintains such student records as required. 3. Prepares reports and maintains such accounting and financial records as may be required by the principal. 4. Provides assistance in preparing instructional material as authorized by the principal. 5. Conducts one's self in a positive professional manner at all times in order to enhance good public relations, foster loyalty, good ethics and cooperation with all personnel. 6. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Superintendent or immediate supervisor may from time to time, assign.
