Our employees receive a range of benefits including health insurance, company-paid life insurance, 401K, generous paid time-off and continuing education support!Under the direction of the site supervisor, assists the overall operation of an Arc residence including providing on-site supervision of direct care staff to include week nights, holidays and week-end hours based on program needs.Job DescriptionAssist in the implementation of the Individualized Service Plan (ISP) as developed for each consumer by his/her family advocate and Service CoordinatorEnsure that the consumer's medical needs are met by scheduling medical appointments, making arrangements to ensure that the consumer gets to the appointments, communicating all necessary information to nursing staff, the Service Coordinator, family advocate, residential staff and scheduling any follow-up or referral appointment as neededAssist in the completion of the monthly paperwork accurately (i.e. attendance records, petty cash, med fund, gas fund, monthly receipts, personal allowance records, etc.)Ensure residential habilitation services are documented in accordance with the Agency and OPWDD requirementsEnsure residential habilitation services are maintained and required transportation paperwork is complete, per policyWorking under the direction of the site supervisor for hiring, orientation and ongoing training, supervision and evaluation of all direct care staffUnder the direction of the site supervisor, schedules direct care staff ensuring that the number and types of staff assigned are adequate to meet the needs of the consumersWith the site supervisor responsible for ensuring that there is a supervisor on staff 7 days a week during key program hours (weeknights, holidays and weekends)Become certified in medication administration and maintain certification on an annual basisProvide direct care services, as neededProvide on call services including holidays, weekends and evening, as needed when site supervisor is not available or on callAssist in ensuring that adequate and appropriate recreational activities in the community and scheduled for consumers year roundCoordinate transportation as needed for consumersEnsures that the nutritional needs of the consumers are metParticipates in corporate compliance and quality assurance activities as requiredOther related duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Requires attentive listening skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and good reading abilities.Basic computer skillsAbility to maintain composure during emergency/conflict situations and be able to use sound judgment in decision making.Ability to relate to people of different abilities, backgrounds and culturesAbility to work independently.Physical & Mental Requirements:Be physically able to assist individuals in transferring from wheelchair to other seat when neededMay be required to prevent an adult from falling, assisting an adult to his/her feet, etc. (adults weighing up to 200 pounds, plus)Walk up and down stairs.Shovel and remove snow and ice from walkways and driveways when necessary.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentAt one years experience with individuals with developmental disabilitiesCertified Nursing Assistant or Certified Home Health Aide preferredValid NYS drivers license with a safe driving record per agency policyPrior supervisory experience preferredWorking Conditions:Will be required to use office equipment, i.e., phone, copier, fax in addition to household appliances, i.e., washer/dryer, stove/oven, refrigerator, etc.Work may require offsite travel to appointment / events / outings.Direct Support Professionals (DSP/Care Providers) provide a variety of activities to adults with developmental disabilities. It could be within the home setting, attending our Day Programs, recreational activities in their home and in the community. AVAILABLE POSITIONS:

- All shifts are available. (Pay differential for sites staffed 24 hours).
WHAT WOULD I BE DOING?
- Provides daily care to the people we support with developmental, intellectual and/or physical disabilities.
- Assists and encourages the people we support to care for immediate personal needs.
- Assists with planning daily activities and participates in the activities in small groups.
- Documents all program data accurately and timely.
- Provide transportation as needed with agency vehicles.
- Use various software platforms for specific job functions.
- All full time DSP's in the residential program will be required to obtain and maintain medication certification.
- Meal preparation.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A DSP:
- High School Diploma, or equivalent required.
- Valid NYS driver's license with a safe driving record
- Excellent communication skills.
- Has a willingness to learn new skills (we provide paid training).
- Possesses computer skills.
