Be able to locate and diagnose failures and do basic troubleshooting from detailed specifications on all hatchery equipment.Position Functions and Responsibilities:
- Ability to use small hand held tools
- Ensure that all equipment is running correctly
- Performs set ups and safety checks on hatchery production equipment
- Able to detect and repair malfunction of bearings, sprockets, chains, conveyors, motors and oil leaks
- Able to identify and repair problems and make sure all safety guards are in place.
- Must have basic mechanical knowledge, as well as basic electrical knowledge
- Other duties as assigned
- Report any problems and/or safety issues immediately
- Comply with all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures
- Stand in one location for extended periods of time
- Stand and walk on concrete floors
- Be able to move quickly and work at a fast pace
- Must be able to crawl, squat, kneel and bend from the waist
- Work in close proximity with other employees
- Must be able to work in confined spaces
- Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs and climb ladders or stairs
- Must have knowledge of LOTO guidelines and Hot Work guidelines
- Utilize hand and eye coordination to perform necessary repairs and installations
- Must be able to distinguish colors to safely identify electrical wiring
- Focus on task at hand without being distracted
- Withstand cold and wet environments and hot or cold temperatures
- Work in and around large volumes of water
- Must be able to work around chemicals
- Must have good communication skills
- Must be able to work assigned shift(s)
- Must be available for an on-call schedule
