This role involves directing vehicle traffic around construction zones, coordinating the loading and unloading of materials, and communicating effectively with drivers and construction personnel to prevent accidents and facilitate timely project progress.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:* Direct the movement of haul trucks and heavy equipment within the construction site, using hand signals, flags, or radios to guide drivers safely around obstacles and to the appropriate locations for loading or unloading.* Monitor construction areas for safety concerns, traffic flow issues, and potential hazards to vehicles and workers, taking immediate action to address any risks.* Coordinate with construction supervisors and equipment operators to schedule and manage the movement of materials, ensuring minimal disruption to construction activities.* Position themselves strategically at designated spots or along traffic routes to provide clear, visible guidance to drivers and to maintain a safe distance from moving equipment.* Implement and follow all safety regulations and procedures, including wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment and ensuring all signs and barricades are correctly placed and visible.* Assist in setting up, maintaining, and removing construction signage, barricades, and traffic diversion equipment to guide vehicular and pedestrian traffic safely around construction zones.* Communicate effectively with team members, drivers, and supervisors to provide updates on traffic conditions, report incidents, and receive instructions.* Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices for traffic control and emergency response.* Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor, which may include assisting with loading and unloading materials or general labor duties when not engaged in spotting or flagging activities.Requirements:* Knowledge of traffic control and safety protocols specific to construction sites.* Ability to make quick decisions and react calmly and effectively in high-stress situations.* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to use hand signals, flags, and radios to direct drivers and equipment operators.* Physical ability to stand for extended periods, frequently walk, bend, and move quickly as needed to maintain visibility and respond to equipment movement.* Must have good vision and hearing, either naturally or with correction, to accurately judge distances and identify potential hazards.* Willingness to work in various weather conditions and at different times of the day, as required by construction schedules.Education and Experience:* High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.* Previous experience in a construction environment, especially in a traffic control or equipment spotting role, is highly advantageous.* Certification in traffic control and safety from a recognized authority is beneficial but not required.Accessibility: If you need an accommodation as part of the employment process please contact Human Resources atEmail:
