Job Description:

Job Title: Hazardous Materials Handler Location: Pax River, MD Overview: Black bear technology Solutions (B2TS) is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Hazardous Materials Handler to join our team at Pax River. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and compliant handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety of our employees and the environment. Key Responsibilities:

+ Handling and Storage: Safely handle, label, and store hazardous materials according to company policies and regulatory requirements.

+ Transportation: Prepare hazardous materials for transportation, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.

+ Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records of hazardous materials, including receiving, tracking, and issuing materials.

+ Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety and environmental regulations. Conduct regular inspections and audits of hazardous materials storage areas.

+ Waste Management: Coordinate the proper disposal of hazardous waste, including working with waste disposal vendors and maintaining appropriate documentation.

+ Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response activities involving hazardous materials, including spill response and containment.

+ Training: Assist in the development and delivery of training programs for employees on the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

+ Documentation: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to hazardous materials handling, including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), shipping papers, and incident reports.

+ Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and maintain equipment used in the handling and storage of hazardous materials to ensure it is in safe working condition.

+ Compliance Reporting: Assist in preparing and submitting reports to regulatory agencies as required.

Qualifications:

+ Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field preferred.

+ Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in hazardous materials handling or a related field. Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is a plus.

+ Certifications: HAZWOPER certification required. DOT Hazmat Certification and Forklift Certification preferred.

+ Knowledge: Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other relevant regulations. Knowledge of hazardous materials classification and labeling.

+ Skills: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills.

+ Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy containers (up to 50 pounds). Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and work in environments with exposure to hazardous materials.

Working Conditions:

+ Environment: Work is performed in a variety of settings, including warehouses, laboratories, and outdoor areas. Exposure to hazardous materials and environments requiring the use of PPE.

+ Schedule: Full-time positions typically require 40 hours per week. Overtime and on-call availability may be required.
