Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.HAZARDOUS WASTE TECHNICIANThe Hazardous Waste Technician will be responsible for implementing and maintaining regulatory requirements relating to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Department of Transportation (DOT). The Hazardous Waste Technician will be working with engineers and technicians daily to ensure our manufacturing, test, and launch operations can support SpaceX goals while meeting all environmental objectives and regulatory requirements.RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for environmental compliance with all applicable regulations including but not limited to EPA, RCRA, and DOTPerform tasks related to RCRA regulatory hazardous waste handling, storage and disposal requirementsMonitor and manage levels of hazardous waste at each department's satellite accumulation areaPerform waste determinations of new waste streamsEnsure all waste is properly labeledEnsure all waste is properly stored, according to its classificationAccurately record and maintain 90-day hazardous waste inventory logsPerform all required hazardous waste and hazardous material storage area inspectionsSchedule, prepare and assist in the execution of waste shipments in partnership with the EHS Specialist and waste disposal contractorConsolidate and Lab pack waste when appropriatePerform tasks related to spill response and prevention, including clean up and/or the coordination of cleaning activities with a third partyImplement the Spill Prevention Countermeasures and Control Plan (SPCC)Order and maintain adequate spill supplies such as spill pads, empty drums, secondary containment, and other equipment necessary to maintain safe handling and correct disposal of hazardous wastePerform environmental compliance and due diligence auditsManage hazardous materials and ensure all hazardous materials are labeled and stored properly in the storage areasPerform regular inspections such as; hazardous waste accumulation and storage, universal waste storage, emergency eye wash/shower, SPCCAdditional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalency certificate2+ years of experience implementing and overseeing aspects related to an environmental, health and safety programPREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:Experience in managing hazardous waste storage and satellite accumulation areasExperience with emergency response crews in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil and waterExperience using Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)Demonstrated strong propensity for hands-on work and attention to detail in either academic or career pursuitsAbility to multi-task, to manage shifting priorities and to follow through on projects with minimal supervisionAbility to work in a construction/industrial environmentAbility to communicate well with technicians and engineersStrong organizational and communication skillsADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the Cape Canaveral, Florida areaPosition occasionally requires the ability to work overtime and weekends when neededAble to work with hazardous materials and environments, while wearing appropriate PPEAbility to pass Air Force background check for Cape CanaveralAbility to lift up to 30 lbs unassistedCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay range:Hazardous Waste Technician/Level 1: $22.00 - $27.0/hourHazardous Waste Technician/Level 2: $26.00 - $33.00/hourYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
