SUMMARYResponsible for day-to-day operation of Club Activities. Assist Membership Department with event organization and promotion as well as Recreation related tasks in a professional manner. Maintain the integrity of the position by upholding Grand Traverse Resort and Spa's policies and procedures.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMEMBERSHIP AND EVENT DUTIES
- Attend and assist with staffing needs for Club events
- Responsible for timely upkeep and internal distribution of information, schedules, etc in Member Programming
- Create in-room flyers as needed to promote any special events, weekend activities and kids programs associated with the Recreation Department
- Assist with coordination/design/implementation of group team building events
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES DUTIES:
- Oversee Activities Desk operations and training
- Oversee the Lifeguards and their training
- Attend Recreation, Club and other meetings as needed
- Will hire, train, direct and counsel staff
- Act as backup for Lifeguards, Activities Desk, Nordic center and Camp Traverse when needed
- Maintain, submit and report all inventory information
- Order all food and beverage for the Activities Desk
- Maximize food and beverage revenue by reviewing and forecasting Food and Beverage Cost Analysis
- Coordinate with Housekeeping and Engineering to ensure that the facility is clean and in working order making sure the proper amount of linens and other supplies are available as needed by walking the entire facility daily
- Promote Member recognition and loyalty throughout department
- Conduct walkthroughs of the Recreational operation to ensure cleanliness, maintenance of facility and maintenance of equipment daily using checklist provided
- Submit weekly schedule for Lifeguards and Activities Desk to Manager
- Ensure weekly schedule for Lifeguards and Activities Desk correlates with the current budget
- Be highly visible and willing to address any concerns in a professional and timely manner
- Ensure revenue generation and expense control in Recreation Department to fulfill company expectations as stated in annual profit plan
- Prepare and assist with budgets and forecasting
- Maintain effective relations with all Resort departments
- Work operational shifts when needed
- Perform any other duties deemed necessary by the Director
- Must understand and abide by environmental practices of the resort
- Ensure that all staff is following Resort Policies and Procedures
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or Club Industry; or a minimum of four years management experience in a related field required
- Certified Lifeguard or will obtain certificate within 3 months
- Ability to be flexible and work evenings, weekends and holidays (primary PM hours)
- Minimum of one year experience coordinating group events, or working in a sales and or marketing operation
- Possess good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Computer and light accounting skills
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESOutlook, Excel, Word, Tennis Connect Software, and Abacus POS. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in either a one-on-one or small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (If applicable)
- Directly supervises all performers within the Recreation Department
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies, and applicable laws
