Perform, schedule, and implement routine cleaning duties and maintenance procedures to ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency of building operations and grounds. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as, district policies, procedures and regulations. Essential Functions
Work cooperatively with campus administration to establish and follow routine cleaning schedules and maintenance procedures to ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency of building operations; perform routine cleaning duties as part of the custodial team. Implement and maintain established schedules and procedures for routine custodial care, maintenance and repairs of campus facilities as needed; make assignment changes and arrange for substitute custodians as needed. Conduct regular inspections of campus buildings and facilities; regulate heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems to regulate temperatures and ensure economical usage of fuel, water and electricity. Perform minor maintenance to include painting, grease trap cleaning, mounting classroom instructional boards, and projection equipment. Monitor and maintain cleanliness of boiler room and report malfunctions to supervisor. Identify and correct unsafe conditions and report any major repair needs that are not correctable to supervisor. Direct and assist with the cleaning and refinishing of floors, moving of furniture, books, inventory, and set up of facilities for school events Identify and correct unsafe conditions and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately; oversee procedures for securing, checking and safeguarding facilities; check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and working properly during hours of building occupancy. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties and provide training and orientation to assigned custodial staff on proper and safe use of tools, equipment and chemicals; comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash and chemicals. Process maintenance requests and order equipment and supplies through established procedures; maintain accurate records of inventory to satisfactorily complete required tasks; conduct annual inventory of physical equipment and supplies and recommend replacement as needed; monitor campus custodial budget. Direct and monitor the work of custodial staff at campus and provide input for annual performance appraisals; participate in selection of staff and training to improve job performance and technical expertise. Attendance at the worksite is required to meet essential functions of the job. Other Responsibilities
Make routine decisions under supervision of principal and assistant principal in accordance with established priorities and procedures; perform routine functions. Maintain accurate time sheets and have them approved by principal or designee. Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, integrity, cooperation and efficient use of time in the performance of assigned duties. Participate in professional development activities/trainings, as required by the district/department. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties; support the goals of the district/department and follow district policies and procedures. Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED); five (5) years verifiable experience in custodial services including two (2) years supervisory experience; ability to read, write, understand and speak English; ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance and safety procedures in English; knowledge of minor repair techniques and building maintenance; ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment. Must possess a valid Texas or New Mexico driver's license; be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier; subject to the district drug and alcohol testing policy and regulation. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds frequently, 20-50 pounds occasionally, more than 50 pounds infrequently and with assistance; ability to climb ladders unassisted up to 8 feed unassisted and higher with assistance; work under all weather conditions; extended periods of walking, standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting; ability to work with potentially hazardous materials in a safe manner and safely perform required duties in potentially hazardous materials in a safe manner and safely perform required duties in potentially hazardous environments. Must be adaptable to work a shift schedule and/or hours other than regularly assigned; must be able to respond to after-hours emergencies.
