  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and experience of all aspects of custodial responsibilities.
  • General office skills including the use of personal computers, filing, copying and the ability to use or learn to operate various types of office equipment.
  • Excellent writing, communication, organization and interpersonal skills to deal effectively, professionally and confidentially with staff and students.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License.
  • Willingness to work towards mastery of Safety Data Sheet OSHA requirements.
  • The ability to work independently to plan and carry out assignments with minimal supervision within the approved policies and procedures of the District.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
JOB GOAL Provide training and coordination of all building's custodial services. Create an environment that produces a satisfying school experience as well as a professional image of the school by proper care of the facilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assists with proper planning of all routine custodial work, i.e. daily, weekly monthly, quarterly, semi-annually and annually.
  • Assists with proper planning for all cleaning of extra events such as athletics, rentals and other use of buildings.
  • Organizes requests for use of school facilities, whereby reviewing district-wide schedules to confirm availability of facilities, collection of certificate of insurance, creation of invoices, as well as other additional responsibilities associated with the use of school facilities in accordance with District policy.
  • Inspect classroom, office and administrative areas on a routine basis and provide feedback to the employees based on findings.
  • Collect custodial employees' timesheets.
  • Maintain a cooperative, positive teamwork environment with the custodial staff through ongoing communications.
  • Assists in the ordering of parts, supplies and services.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Provides input on training opportunities for all custodians.
  • Processes departmental purchase requisitions and maintains purchase order files.
  • Assists with the collection of annual service contracts for school board approval.
  • Assists in the maintenance and retention of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Assists with training of all new custodial employees confirming knowledge of job requirements, use of equipment, SDS requirements, and other additional responsibilities.
  • Participates in ongoing staff development programs.
  • Communication with Principals and or Director of Operations & Maintenance/Assistant Superintendent regularly concerning all activities related to custodial operations and custodial employees.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Operations & Maintenance and/or Assistant Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Full Time 12 month Position - Bargaining Unit
  • Flexible and changing schedule with the possibility of day, night, weekend and/or holiday work
  • Compensation as per the SAESP Collective Bargaining Agreement and district guidelines
EVALUATION Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Operations & Maintenance/Assistant Superintendent in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of support personnel.
