High School Head Football Coach
Reports To: Athletic Director and Principal
Job Summary:
The Head Football Coach is responsible for the leadership, management, and administration of the high school football program. This includes developing student-athletes' skills, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being, and upholding the school's mission and values. The coach will also promote a positive culture of sportsmanship and academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership:
* Develop and implement a comprehensive football program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
* Oversee all aspects of the football program, including varsity and sub-varsity teams.
* Collaborate with school administration to align the football program with academic and character-building objectives.
Coaching and Instruction:
* Plan and conduct effective practices, conditioning programs, and game strategies.
* Teach and model fundamental football techniques, tactics, and principles.
* Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes.
Student Development:
* Foster an environment that prioritizes academic achievement and personal growth.
* Act as a mentor and positive role model for student-athletes.
* Monitor and support athletes' academic progress and eligibility.
Team Management:
* Recruit, retain, and develop student-athletes for participation in the program.
* Supervise and mentor assistant coaches and ensure alignment with program goals.
* Communicate effectively with players, families, and stakeholders.
Operational Duties:
* Maintain accurate records, including attendance, statistics, and equipment inventory.
* Plan and manage the football program's budget in coordination with the Activities Director.
* Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic policies.
Qualifications:
Required:
* Proven experience coaching football at the high school or collegiate level.
* Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
* Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their best on and off the field.
Preferred:
* Bachelor's degree in education, sports management, or a related field.
* Teaching certification and willingness to serve as a faculty member.
* Experience in program development and long-term planning.
* Familiarity with NSAA (Nebraska School Activities Association) policies and procedures.
