Head of Business Development - Remote US

My client, an early-stage biotechnology start-up, leads on developing therapies for incurable cancers by using proteomics and AI during early discovery.

Position Overview

The role of Head of Business Development will report directly to the CEO. This role is a key business hire for the company, and the successful applicant will develop and implement the Business Development strategy to maximize the companies' unique offerings.

  • Join the leadership team and lead the development of an ambitious business development plan, integrating company-wide objectives.
  • Identify and source relevant potential partners for transcription factor drug discovery and development.
  • Develop business development materials and communications for prospective partners.
  • Lead negotiation and due diligence processes for partnership deals.
  • Collaborate with wider teams to prioritize therapeutic targets to drive success of the business development plan.
  • Recruit and mentor a high-performing business development team.
  • Create and maintain a strong network of potential partners and key contacts, fostering long-term relationships.

Required Skills and Experience

  • BS, MS, or PhD in biology, chemistry, or another scientific field.
  • 10+ years business development experience, including 2+ years in roles with leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven success in developing and maintaining strong Business Development plans.
  • A strong network in the pharmaceutical and biotech/biopharma sectors, focusing on oncology therapeutics companies.
  • Strong scientific background, ideally in therapeutics.
  • Experience in building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Experience in a venture-backed, start-up environment is a plus.

Salary and Benefits
