Job Details:Job Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer and a member of the Engineering Leadership Team, the Head of Configuration manages the activities of a technical team responsible for Configuration Management, Environment Management, Software Configuration Management, and DevOps across CTS. This role will interpret, execute, and recommend modifications to applicable procedures, resolve configuration/data management issues between program management and/or customer requirements, and coordinate the activities required to support configuration audits and contract deliverables with program management. The Head of Configuration will ensure that the performance of the department complies with the defined company processes in EMS and makes updates to EMS as necessary. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:- Develop and execute a strategic vision for the configuration team that aligns with the company's and engineering overall goals and objectives.
- Drive innovation by staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development.
- Experience managing budgets and financial planning within a configuration department.
- Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and the ability to align configuration efforts with business goals.
Team Management:- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing configuration team(s), including both managers and configuration and release engineers.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and results/data-driven culture within the configuration department.
- Proven track record of leading and scaling high-performing software teams.
Subject Matter Expertise:- Strong technical background with experience in software architecture, design, development, and deployment.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms and modern development tools.
Project and Product Management:- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of configuration and release projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.
- Establish and maintain the overall global configuration and management process for CTS.
Technical Leadership:- Provide guidance on configuration and release, ensuring scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
- Promote and enforce best practices within the department, including setting industry standards.
- Align with engineering leadership team to ensure quality deliveries across various stages of the lifecycle.
- Manage and coordinate the preparation of all configuration change proposals, deviations, and waivers.
Operational Efficiency:- Implement and optimize configuration and release engineering processes and tools to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Manage resource allocation to balance short-term project demands with long-term strategic goals.
Collaboration and Communication:- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, marketing, sales, engineering, OPS IT, and customer support, to ensure successful releases and customer satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively with executive leadership, board members, and other stakeholders on the status, progress, and future plans of department initiatives.
Quality and Performance:- Ensure rigorous quality assurance processes are in place, including automation, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and efficiency of the engineering team and its projects.
Risk Management:- Identify and mitigate risks associated with configuration and release, including technical, operational, and security risks.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Ability to manage complex projects and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of security best practices and regulatory compliance.
Remote workers will be considered.Qualifications:
Education - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.Experience - 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. Cubic Pay Range:
$160,000 – $190,000* + benefits.
- Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographic market up to our highest geographic market.
The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
