Location: San Francisco, CA. This role is based 2 days per week out of our San Francisco, HQ and is not eligible for full-time remote work.

Compensation: The annual OTE for this role is $175,000-$213,000 in addition to equity & benefits.

The Team & Role

We are thrilled to bring on a Head of Demand Generation to help drive Gem's growth. You'll report to the Head of Marketing and be a key leader at the company, owning all things integrated campaigns, digital advertising, email, social, and ABM.

You're the right fit for this role if you love building, thrive at startups, speak data as a second language, and can fine-tune a pipeline engine for maximum performance – especially in the enterprise segment.

This is a player-coach position where you'll start with one direct report and multiple agencies, and have the chance to build things out as you drive results. That means you'll need to be equally skilled at strategy and execution. You may create a quarterly plan one day and launch a campaign or email sequence the next.

What You'll do Day-to-Day:
  • Build and execute a demand generation strategy that drives pipeline and revenue; you'll directly own a marketing-sourced pipeline number.
  • Run a high-performing team that includes one report and multiple agencies; you'll need to be both a doer and a strategist.
  • Lead the charge on integrated, multi-channel campaigns that resonate with talent acquisition leaders and their teams.
  • Work with 3rd-party vendors to reach new audiences via sponsorships, email blasts, content syndication, and more.
  • Partner with a digital agency to optimize ad spend across Google, LinkedIn, and other platforms.
  • Take our ABM program from phase 1 to world-class.
  • Collaborate with Sales leaders on segment-level strategies that fuel pipeline and revenue growth across Gem's Enterprise and Commercial businesses.
  • Partner with Revenue Operations to optimize lead scoring, channel attribution, and performance reporting.
  • Obsess over data to understand what's working and how to optimize investments.
  • Follow best practices, run experiments, and keep the demand gen engine on the cutting edge.
About You:
  • Experienced B2B Demand Gen Leader: You've spent 7+ years in demand generation, growth marketing, or related fields at B2B SaaS companies with sales-led GTM motions. You've also been a people manager for 3+ years.
  • Startup Veteran: You've been in the trenches of fast-moving startups before (~100-500 employees) and find it thrilling.
  • Data Obsessed: Data isn't just numbers to you—it's the story behind success. You're fluent in Salesforce, Google Analytics, and other reporting tools.
  • Strategic Doer: You thrive on ownership, taking initiatives from concept to execution.
  • Enterprise Whisperer: You understand the complexities of large buyer groups and long purchase cycles.
  • People-First Leader: You enjoy being in a highly visible role and helping everyone around you to be their best.
