OBJECTIVES:

R&D has centralized Lab Operations for supply of materials, equipment and services. The next stage in this evolution requires a Demand Management leader. This person will be responsible for developing forecast requirements for all purchased services, materials and equipment as well as the management of the day-to-day order capture for Consumables and Chemicals. The focus of this role is to assure delivery of the business plan savings.

This new role will set the foundations for a new Demand Management function:

  • Staff manager of the Order Processing team to cover orders for Lab materials.
  • Develop a reliable forecasting process & new analytical tools for Lab Materials (initially consumables & chemicals).
  • Extend forecasting capability to the purchase of new Lab Equipment, particularly by providing a forward activity analysis by equipment type.
  • Support External Business Management team in developing forecast methodologies to identify potential future contract savings for lab materials.
  • Provide experience-based insights on potential areas of saving in Lab Ops and developing the data to support savings hypotheses.
  • Ensure consistent and efficient order management and order processing and tracking systems are deployed in partnership with planning team.
  • Change manage on behalf of the team the IMS roll-out & extension plan. Engage global sites & educate for deployment. Manage communications of IMS benefits & use of dashboards.
  • ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Act as team leader and provide strategic direction to the Order Management team.
  • Creating new analytical and forecasting tools using Power Apps and Power BI to provide insight on consumption or purchases of:
  • Chemicals and Consumables
  • Laboratory equipment
  • Laboratory Services
  • Provide change management & leadership for IMS global roll-out with the planning team.
  • Identifying and supporting delivery of savings opportunities in Lab Materials buying patterns and processes.
  • Identifying opportunities to postpone or avoid major capital spend on equipment based on forecast demands.
  • Identifying potential savings in service contracts through supplier and spend analytics combined with forecast consumption of contracts.
  • Providing detailed spend analysis & demand reports for materials, assets and services purchasing.
  • Translating potential savings into financially recognizable data and manage communications of dashboards and targets.
  • EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

    Education & Experience

  • BS or MS degree required in science / technology / business subject.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of managerial experience including supply chain planning and/or experience of R&D planning.
  • Proven track record of driving business process improvement and systems/planning change.
  • Operational experience in planning with significant focus on operations planning and materials management.
  • This position is currently classified as “hybrid” in accordance with Takeda's Hybrid and Remote Work policy.
