Job Description:

The Head of Engineering will lead our engineering vision and drive the development of our technology strategy. This senior leader will manage and oversee our entire development team guiding them toward building and scaling innovative, high-quality solutions that meetclient and business needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead and inspire a large, diverse engineering team, establishing a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement. Mentor and support senior developers, fostering their professional growth and aligning team performance with company goals.
  • Engineering Strategy & Vision: Define and drive the technical vision, long-term strategy, and roadmaps for our software architecture. Champion innovation and influence technical decisions that align with the company's growth and mission.
  • Process Development: Develop and implement engineering processes that scale effectively to support a high-performing engineering team. Establish best practices and operational guidelines to ensure productivity, quality, and accountability.
  • System Development Lifecycle Oversight: Oversee the end-to-end system development life-cycle, from requirements gathering through deployment, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with company standards.
  • Technology & Architecture: Shape and implement an integrated, scalable web architecture that supports company growth. Stay updated with emerging technologies and make strategic decisions on technology investments, particularly in open-source stacks like Python, PHP, and other web technologies.
  • Quality & Performance: Ensure that all software deployments meet performance, security, and quality standards. Maintain oversight of the platform's stability and take ownership of feature deployment and technical performance metrics.
  • Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Partner closely with Product, Sales, and Client Success teams to align engineering efforts with business priorities. Support the Sales team by participating in demos and addressing technical needs during client interactions.
  • Technical Excellence: Foster an environment of continuous improvement in code quality, system reliability, and operational efficiency. Encourage the adoption of open-source technologies that align with business objectives and drive innovation.
  • Project & Risk Management: Oversee the planning, management, and execution of development projects, with a focus on scope management, issue and risk management, and alignment with delivery timelines.
Required Skills:
  • Leadership Skills: Strong, demonstrable experience in leading large engineering teams, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop high-caliber technical talent.
  • Technical Proficiency in Open Source Technologies: Extensive experience with open-source technologies, particularly in web development stacks like Python, PHP, JavaScript, or .NET, and familiarity with agile development practices.
  • Project Delivery: Proven record in the timely delivery of complex projects, managing large-scale engineering processes, and handling the technical demands of various software business models.
  • Process-Oriented: Deep knowledge of engineering processes that support large-scale team operations, including agile methodologies, code reviews, and best practices in quality assurance.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with a strategic approach to conflict resolution, collaboration, and decision-making.
Experience:
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in architectural design and development for large-scale, highly reliable, and highly available applications, with a proven track record of success in engineering leadership roles.
