Job Description:

Position: Head of Finance and IT

Reports to: CEO

Summary:

We are seeking a Head of Finance and IT for our portfolio company, a consumer products manufacturer in the greater Sacramento area. This leadership role will oversee the financial activities of the company and will manage and supervise all aspects of accounting from tax to financial reporting packages, and banking relationships. Additionally, the role will lead the IT department. This position is a part of the company's leadership team, reporting to the CEO.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  • Managing Team of 4 – accounting clerk, admin, and several IT positions

Finance/Accounting Focus:

  • Closing - manage month and year-end closings, invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, daily cash flow tasks, general ledger, budgeting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital asset reconciliations, inventory, check runs, tax compliance, fixed asset activity, debt activity, etc.
  • Reporting - monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports and statements and GAAP financial reporting
  • Methods - ensure proper accounting methods, policies and principles
  • Transactions - establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions
  • Cash - management and application of cash; collections of AR
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) – provide essential planning, analysis, and insights to the business
  • Banking – establish and maintain all banking relationships
  • Sales Orders - ensure effective sales order transactions in tandem with dealer and direct sales representatives; provides supporting documents for customer financed transactions
  • KPI's – establish appropriate KPI's across the company to help support decision making and day-to-day performance
  • Leadership - participate in the management team meetings, providing recommendations and solutions

IT Focus: lead and assist in the development, implementation and analysis of features spanning a full web-based distributed cloud application stack

  • Integration - develop and maintain unit and integration tests
  • UpTime – ensure team monitors, debugs, and troubleshoots complex issues to resolve defects and reduce technical debt
  • ERP – oversee the identification, implementation of, and maintenance of an ERP/MRP system
  • Privacy and Security – ensure proper systems processes that meet all legal privacy and security requirements.

HR Support:

  • Payroll - ensure payroll processing for over 100 employees on a bi-weekly basis with HR team 401K - strategic and financial support of 401(k) plan in conjunction with HR team
  • Risk – support HR department, outside benefits and insurance brokers so that adequate policies are in place

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance, an MBA a plus
  • 15+ years of overall experience in accounting, and a minimum five at the controller+ level
  • Manufacturing company experience required
  • Private Equity portfolio company experience is preferred
  • Experience with chart of accounts, payroll services, bank services, and healthcare benefit services
  • Advanced skills with QuickBooks preferred
  • Must have Excel expertise, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions
  • Proven knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, laws and regulations
  • Experience with implementation and management of ERP systems and various interface development requirements
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Experience supervising staff
