Job Description:

Role is for you if you're excited to define a new category and bring it to the masses.

Mission

We are building the mental health experience the 21st century needs by making emotional fitness an everyday practice.

Over 80% of people will experience a mental health challenge in their lifetime, so why is accessing help still so stigmatized and archaic?

We are Coa: a first-of-its-kind gym for mental health. Our therapist-led emotional fitness classes & tools help people learn the skills for ongoing, proactive mental & emotional health.

Coa was co-founded by Alexa Meyer and Dr. Emily Anhalt, who met on Twitter in 2018 and were united by their vision to make mental fitness as proactive as physical fitness. Coa is backed by investors like NBA player Kevin Love, Casper founder Neil Parikh, Crosslink Ventures, and others.

Since 2021, Coa has worked to bring emotional fitness training to consumers & employers like NBC, Skillshare, LogDNA, Salesforce, Qualtrics, among several others.

About the Team

Coa is one of the few mental health startups founded by a licensed therapist. Coa was founded by Alexa Meyer and Dr. Emily Anhalt, a consumer and clinician who have experienced firsthand the need for better mental health experiences. Prior to starting Coa, they validated Coa with incredible impact via Mental Health Pop Ups across the country.

Team is primarily based in San Francisco & NYC (but all remote for now). We are building a consumer movement & brand, while also bringing our classes to world-class employers like Salesforce, Silicon Valley Bank, Haus, Asana, and more.

We're backed by amazing institutional investors as well as individuals who have worked for world-changing consumer brands like NBA, Casper, Glossier, and Airbnb.

We've been featured in the Today Show, Fast Company, Men's Health, TechCrunch, First Round Review, and our therapists have been cited as experts in Wired, Forbes, Women's Health, Shape, Bustle, Psychology Today and many others.

Position Overview

We're seeking a senior & experienced growth marketer to help us make emotional fitness an everyday practice. Our therapist-led emotional fitness classes & 1 on 1 therapy sessions help people learn the skills for ongoing, proactive mental & emotional health.

You'll help us identify & execute on consumer acquisition channels to grow our early customer base. Your work will help people find and engage with mental health resources like therapy and emotional fitness classes.

As our first marketing hire, this is an opportunity to shape the initial go-to-market strategy for Coa, while also owning the tactics to bring it to life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partnering with our co-founders to build on Coa's initial go-to-market strategy while defining the tactics to bring it to life.
  • Grow our audience and bring Coa's story to life across social media: Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter while using the platforms creatively to progress Coa's mission of making mental health a proactive lifestyle.
  • Help people discover Coa's online therapist-led classes and fine-tune the channels to ensure each class is filled.
  • Inspire a community of therapy & emotional fitness advocates through creative storytelling and partnership programs.
  • Engage our growing community through email, social media, content, and other creative ways to stay connected and involved with the Coa brand.
  • Track the effectiveness of what's working across marketing channels using a data-informed approach.
  • Collaborate with mission-aligned partners and with our PR team on new announcements and launches.
  • Qualifications
  • You've worked in early-stage startups and know how to operate effectively in ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
  • You love to build marketing strategies & plans that drive real results; you're interested in building content strategies that resonate and drive acquisition goals.
  • You're brand-savvy and data-informed; you understand the power of brand while using data to back your decisions and assess what's working.
  • You're extremely organized; any good marketer knows that ideas are only as good as their execution.
  • You are an effective collaborator and relationship builder; you've worked with cross-disciplinary teams in the past to deliver marketing campaigns that drive results.
  • You're excited to bring a new consumer brand to market.
  • Culture

We're building a culture of: Excellent, proactive, and thoughtful communication about work, personal needs, and expectations. (We also teach a class on effective communication to everyone on our team!)

Learning, curiosity, self-awareness, and personal growth.

Interest in the depth and complexity of human & emotional experience.

Psychological safety, diversity, inclusion, and belonging: creating a safe space for all perspectives to not only be heard, but valued.

Destigmatization of proactive mental health and mental wellbeing.

    Total Rewards and Benefits
  • Competitive salary and equity in a seed stage start-up.
  • Rejuvenation policy spanning PTO, holidays, personal days, and mental health days!
  • Intellectual Health: a healthy learning budget to fuel your personal growth.
  • Mental Health: a stipend toward therapy.
  • Travel Health: a stipend toward travel.
  • Professional development opportunities: we offer classes to all employees on leadership fitness & emotional fitness at work.
  • Opportunity to help build a culture that values self-care, cultural change, and collaboration.
  • How to Apply

Please send a note to ...@joincoa.com with your resume, why this role is for you, and at least one simple idea or way you would increase user growth at Coa — if possible we'd love to see links or examples of campaigns (and results!) you've been a part of or creative endeavors you're especially proud of.
