What you will do

  • This role is responsible for the successful function of the Internal Audit Department. Effective management of the Internal Audit Department by the Head of Internal Audit will ensure: the internal controls over financial reporting are in place and working effectively, protecting the company from internal fraudulent activity and ensuring our financial statements are accurate; Model Audit Rule (MAR) compliance and validation testing for reporting to state regulators and external accounting firms; Compliance with specific state regulatory requirements through annual audits (NJAIRE, NCRF, SSAE 18, Financial Stress Test, Disaster Recovery, etc.); Risks and related controls and audit findings are perpetually monitored for updates and process improvements.
  • Management responsibility for the Internal Audit staff (assignments, budgets, reviews, etc.) and the delivery of audit services it provides to its customers.
  • Report to the Board of Directors, through the Audit Sub-Committee or other appropriate committees, the findings and recommendations resulting from the audits or reviews conducted by the department and/or third-party consultants. Provides input to management and staff in accordance with established policies of the Board.
  • Direct the preparation of reports, documents, Board letters, and other correspondence to ensure appropriate and effective communication of departmental activities; make presentations to the Board of Directors, as required, to keep them apprised of the Company's current audit activities.
  • Formulate and implement department policies and procedures; administer internal records of the department; establish department auditing standards and procedures.
  • Monitor and update the assessment of the control environment on a regular basis; keep abreast of significant control issues, trends, and emerging risks.
  • Prepare and update a comprehensive risk-based annual audit plan for evaluating the effectiveness of controls in place to manage significant risk exposures, ensure the integrity and reliability of information and financial reporting, safeguard company assets, and comply with laws and regulations.
  • Responsible to meet Internal Audit metrics including the successful completion of the annual Audit Plan.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the Internal Audit Department.
  • Ensure continual improvement of the quality of the internal audit reports.
  • Coordinate external auditor efforts.
  • Model audit rule compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Confirms with all corporate policies and procedures.

What you need

  • 10+ years of Internal Audit experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of Leadership experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Master's Degree required.
  • Certified Internal Auditor certification issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors (CIA) required.
  • CPA preferred.

Location: Hybrid (New Hartford, NY)

Salary Range: $150,000 - $220,000
