Sr. Rayleen Giannotti, RSM, brings more than two decades of education and leadership experience to her role as principal of Mercymount Country Day School.

Sr. Rayleen's vision for school leadership at Mercymount is rooted in the acronym MERCY: moral agency, educational excellence, relationships, communication, and “you.” Since starting as principal in October, 2019, Sr. Rayleen has used these principles to create a learning environment where students can flourish and families feel welcomed and engaged.

Sr. Rayleen has strived to hire and retain top educators who believe in the school's mission and excel in project-based learning strategies. She and those teachers inspire students to act with integrity, treat each other with respect through healthy relationships, and understand their worth as a unique gift of a loving God. Sister also works to spread the good news of Mercymount in the community through conversations with parents and strong marketing, enrollment and development efforts.

Beyond her relationships with Mercymount's students and families, Sr. Rayleen has strong relationships with many of the school's recent graduates. She served on the Mercymount's middle school faculty as a religion teacher for six years in the early 2000s.

Sr. Rayleen also has served her order in Texas and Missouri as a novice minister. She has worked in teaching roles at Catholic schools in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and spent four years leading Mercy mission integration efforts at health care facilities in Pennsylvania and Illinois.

Sr. Rayleen entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1993. She has a bachelor's degree from Salve Regina University, a master's degree in education from the Lynch School at Boston College, and a master's degree in bioethics from Loyola University in Chicago. She completed further graduate coursework in educational leadership at Creighton University.
