The Head of School is dedicated to fostering a positive and collaborative school community with a passionate commitment to the authentic Montessori philosophy and methods. The Head of School is responsible for promoting the Montessori educational philosophy and ideals, while ensuring that the school's mission, vision and goals are effectively implemented. The Head of School leads the school both internally and externally, and oversees the day-to-day operations, working collaboratively with the management team, staff, students, families, and the greater community. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or 120 semester hours of approved college credit or a Bachelor's degree equivalence as determined by an independent agency authorized to evaluate foreign credentials. Certification from AMS or AMI, MACTE-accredited training facility. Leadership Experience. Management and interpersonal Skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Leadership: Oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality implementation of Montessori pedagogy, curriculum, and programs that support the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the school. Provides leadership for programs which affect the current and future development of the school (such as strategic planning and setting curricular goals). Ensures that program quality is maintained and that classrooms have appropriate instructional materials. Create and support a positive school climate for staff, students, and families including:
- Clear and open communication with staff and families.
- Inclusion of a diverse student body and family community.
- Alignment with the Montessori philosophy.
- Valuing of continued growth and learning at all levels. Model and sustain a culture of giving, volunteerism, global awareness and citizenship at the school. Represent the school at community and professional events. Management: Execute efficient management of the school, with regard to educational philosophy and fiscal responsibility. Ensure that the school meets all regulatory requirements and pursues the highest level of quality educational standards. Set and implement standards for Montessori practice, scope and sequence, materials and student progress. Manage enrollment for a sustainable school including marketing, admissions process, student contracts, etc. Manage all aspects of staffing including, but not limited to: hiring (interviewing, selecting, setting salary, etc.), scheduling, training and continuing education, communications (staff meetings) evaluation, professional development plans, termination, etc. Manage discretionary school budget. Create and implement a school strategic plan. Drive enrollment and student retention in all programs. Effectively assess and mitigate risks that could impact the school. Communication: Cultivate and maintain effective, constructive communication with staff, students, and families. Oversee effective marketing, communications, and outreach through web, print, and social media to maintain and increase the school's visibility. Communicate achievements, progress, and milestones to the school community. Oversee all internal school communications to foster an atmosphere of teambuilding and inclusiveness. Required attendance and participation in all staff meetings. Other duties, as assigned. Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand, bend, lift and work in an outdoor playground environment for extended periods of time while supervising children. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
