  • Global Enterprise Security (GES) has responsibility for ensuring a risk-based management approach to protect BlackRock staff and visitors, reputation, physical and information assets and operations from disruptive events. The team leads key security functions including operations, security technology, intelligence, travel security and administration. We partner across Blackrock to seamlessly address employee issues, solve problems, respond to crisis events and investigate incidents.
    • The Head of Security will be responsible for serving as the key point of contact for all security-related issues at Blackrock's HQ in Hudson Yards and NYC more broadly. They will be responsible for overseeing all security operations, addressing risks that potentially impact Blackrock as well as managing all security staff onsite which will include large team of security officers (armed & unarmed) and personnel working in our security command center (SCC).Reporting
      • The position will report to the Global Head of Corporate Security in New York City and will be hired at the Vice President level.Responsibilities:
        • Serving as the domain authority and coordinating GES activities for HY and NYC.
        • Leading BlackRock and vendor staff on the GES team as those resources are deployed in NYC.
        • Overseeing all aspects of physical security and ensuring the safety of our staff, visitors, travelers and assets.
        • Identifying, onboarding and handling security vendors to assist in the provision of security in the region.
        • Overall responsibility for ensuring the NYC security team carry out all aspects of their duties to the required standard and on time. Direct management of all NYC SCC Supervisors, with overall responsibility for all security staff recruitment, performance management and training.
        • Ensure compliance with BlackRock and vendor policies and procedures, in particular with the site procedures, BlackRock Corporate Security and Front of House standards.
        • Partners with business leaders across the region to ensure that Security, Life Safety and BCM programs are well socialized and executed.
        • Maintains very strong ties with local vendors as well as local, state and federal government and law enforcement officials to ensure BlackRock can appropriately respond to emergency issues.
        • Responds to employee and BLK emergencies and provides support to ensure our ability to mitigate emergencies. This requires availability during evenings and weekends and a willingness to respond to unexpected emergencies and situations at any time.
        • Review and maintain SCC SOPs and protocols. Find opportunities for improvements and efficiencies, liaising with BlackRock Corporate Security as the need arises.
        • Own the design and delivery of SCC training programs ensuring robust induction and ongoing training for operatives globally, in liaison with local managers.Qualifications:
          • Requires a minimum of 10 years of forward-thinking advancement in law enforcement, security, life safety or business continuity management.
          • Strong knowledge of security protocols, intelligence programs and command center operations.
          • Financial services experience strongly preferred.
          • Experience with designing, implementing, and maintaining a security, life safety or business continuity management program.
          • Strong knowledge of geopolitical landscape and global risks.
          • Proficient in SCC infrastructure and technologies with proven ability to communicate effectively with IT and Security integration professionals.
          • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels within the organization.
          • Strong scheduling, prioritizing, and multi-tasking skills and able to work in a fast-paced reciprocal team environment.
          • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
          • Requires experience providing executive and event protection.
          • Must be available during evenings and weekends to respond to unexpected emergencies and situations.
          • Details-oriented with strong focus on process and governance. Exercises good judgement in high pressure scenarios.For New York City only:The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $173,500. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including health care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits.
