Job Description:

We are seeking a Head of US Defined Contribution (DC) Investment Strategy to lead a team with primary responsibility to increase State Street's US Defined Contribution market share.

As an integral part of State Street's US Retirement Team within the Chief Business Officer (CBO), the Head of US DC Investment Strategy will work collaboratively across SSGA to ensure a superior product offering and client support model. Specifically, working in partnership with State Street's Client Coverage Group (CCG) and Investment organization, you will drive adoption of State Street investment solutions within DC plans (e.g. Target Date, IncomeWise, Index).

You will lead a team of investment strategists as a player-coach and use your investment, sales, and entrepreneurial skills to create analysis highlighting the value of our offerings, targeted messaging and sales ideas, and supporting materials for our existing client base. In addition to supporting the sales process, the Investment Strategist plays a key role in improving upon and expanding our DC investment offerings through ongoing product innovation conducted in partnership with our investment teams and broader Chief Business Officer organization.

The role is based in Boston, MA. Remote candidates in XXX will also be considered.

As Head of US Defined Contribution Investment Strategy, you will:
  • Define, drive and lead the strategy to grow our US Defined Contribution market share.
  • Serve as internal and external DC expert on State Street's DC capabilities and DC market trends (e.g. optimal plan design, custom vs. off-the-shelf, etc.).
  • Work closely with CCG to engage with Defined Contribution clients, and their consultants, on product needs, investment topics and asset allocation ideas to drive solution-oriented approach to delivering SSGA investment capabilities.
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of Defined Contribution client needs and providing appropriate education and support into CCG who own the Defined Contribution client and consultant relationships.
  • Partner closely with Investment Teams to develop innovative investment offerings for the DC market and position existing investment capabilities in a DB plan context.
  • Partner with Marketing to generate thought-provoking investment content in the Defined Contribution market.
  • Keep abreast of industry, market and company trends, and partner with business leaders to understand key concerns and opportunities for each line of business; tailor analysis and synthesis around these topics.
  • Ability to collaborate for success and across all relevant stakeholder groups internally and externally to collaborate for market share growth in this client segment.
Education & Qualifications:
  • Minimum 12 years of financial services experience.
  • Experience of working with Defined Contribution plans at a global asset manager or institutional consultant are advantageous.
  • Published author of a blog, white-paper, article, media appearances or other investment content available to the Defined Contribution investment community.
  • Available for travel regionally and globally as required.
  • Knowledge of Defined Contribution market, investment product use cases and applicability in Defined Contribution portfolios, as well as strong track record of demonstrated ability to engage at senior level on portfolio construction topics with investors.
  • Critical understanding of macroeconomics, financial theory and empirical research.
  • Excellent communications skills to present sophisticated solutions to clients.
  • Ability to work efficiently with and influence internal and external partners.
  • Positive attitude with a strong team orientation, and is enthusiastic to educate team members and clients, whilst developing and nurturing talent based in other geographical locations.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.

Salary Range: $135,000 - $210,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
