BH GUARD currently offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced Head of Workers Compensation over Small Commercial package to guide our next stage of growth at Berkshire Hathaway Guard Insurance Companies.
The position can be located in either Wilkes-Barre, PA, New York, NY, Philadelphia, PA,Parsippany, NJ or Atlanta, GA.
- Track record of managing Workers Compensation P&L in excess of $250m GWP/year.
- Ability to articulate and lead the creation of a class fit approach tailored to small business.
- Ability to articulate and the lead the creation of a state strategy framework.
- Articulates and is knowledgeable of industry trends and emerging exposures.
- Responsible for relationship with NCCI.
- Leads the development and enhancement of guidelines and product strategies, including design, development, implementation of system and process solutions.
- Provides guidance and thought leadership to underwriting at the single risk level and at the portfolio level; experience taking referrals.
- Provides guidance and thought leadership to Product Managers or Product Specialists to drive portfolio management monitoring and KPI's.
- Ownership of rate decision for line of business. Owns and drives collaboration with actuarial on rating algorithm best practices and enhancements.
- Own competitor intelligence strategy
- Understand how to leverage loss control capabilities as a competitive advantage.
- Provide guidance through example. There is expectation that in addition to ownership and guidance, work product will be delivered through this role for all owned aspects.
- Collaborate with training and marketing to develop communication, training, and marketing materials in support of new or enhanced products and initiatives. May require delivery of training materials or content.
- Outline post implementation monitoring and measurement mechanisms for Workers Compensation specific strategies in support of outlined success criteria. Collaborate with Data and Analytics team to analyze and refine results.
- Bachelor's degree preferred with concentration in Risk Management, Business, Economics, Finance, Math, Statistics or Actuarial Sciences
- 10 + years of Commercial Product or Underwriting experience.
- Must exhibit expertise in industry trends, state regulations, and compliance processes.
- Must promote and exemplify data driven decision-making.
- Promotes and exemplifies a culture of collaboration, including stakeholders at various levels and in various departments.
Salary Range
$165,000-$300,000.00 USD with performance based bonus potential
The successful candidate is expected to work in one of our offices 3 days per week and also be available for travel as required.
The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
