Long Island University (LIU) seeks a dedicated and experienced Head Softball Coach to lead our softball program at the Brooklyn campus. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in coaching, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Develop and implement effective training programs to enhance player skills, team performance, and overall athlete development. Recruitment: Identify, evaluate, and recruit student-athletes who align with the university's academic and athletic standards.
Game Strategy: Prepare game strategies and in-game coaching to maximize team performance in competitive environments.
Student-Athlete Development: Foster an inclusive and supportive environment that prioritizes the academic and personal growth of student-athletes.
Collaboration: Work closely with the athletic department, including the athletic director and support staff, to ensure compliance with NCAA and conference regulations.
Budget Management: Manage the softball program's budget, including fundraising efforts and allocation of resources.
Community Engagement: Represent the softball program at campus events, community functions, and media engagements to promote the team and university.
Performance Analysis: Analyze game footage and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and develop strategic plans.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Previous coaching experience at the collegiate level, with a successful track record of leading teams. Strong understanding of NCAA regulations and commitment to ethical coaching practices. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes while fostering teamwork and sportsmanship.
