Kansas Children's Service League is looking to hire a full-time Head Start Health Coordinator in Garden City, KS. This position earns a competitive wage of $17-19 per hour and works a Monday - Friday schedule with occasional evenings and weekends.

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the monitoring all health services, data entry and oversight of the health and nutrition components as they relate to compliance with the Office of Head Start Program Standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

MONITORING AND OPERATIONS 35%

  • Coordinate and track/enter data all immunizations and all physical, dental, optical, and audiology screenings and follow-ups
  • Follow up and investigate areas of noncompliance and concern in health.
  • Assist with creation of agency long and short-term objectives.
  • Oversee the collection, entry and reporting of Growth Assessments
  • Offer guidance with Nutrition & Health Integrated Service Plan, Forms, Policies and Procedures
  • Assessing health concerns with children

COLLABORATION 15%

  • Serve as liaison between Head Start and health care providers to ensure service delivery.
  • Assist families in finding health and dental homes in collaboration with Family Engagement Coordinators and Parent and Child Educators
  • Work in conjunction with other KCSL staff to ensure that all children receive required health screenings, treatments and any recommended or necessary follow ups.

DATA ENTRY AND REPORTS 25%

  • Enter specific health/nutrition related data in ChildPlus.
  • Monitor health/nutrition components with ChildPlus reports.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING 10%

  • Assist with Health & Nutrition Component training for staff, parents, and volunteers.

TRAINING 10%

  • Participate in any training or conferences as requested.

NONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work Environment Office

Lifting Requirements 25 Pounds

Travel Requirements Driving to and from sites, as needed.

Travel out-of-town for conferences, as required by agency.

Other Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, current auto insurance, pass all required background checks.

MAJOR SYSTEM (MIS) OR PROCESS RESPONSIBILIY

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of experience working in an office setting
  • Very strong computer skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

Preferred

  • C.N.A. certification
  • Previous Head Start experience.
  • Previous experience in the health services field

AUTHORITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Head Start Health Coordinator is delegated full authority necessary for the effective performance of all assigned duties and responsibilities subject to the restrictions, requirements, and terms of the agency's policies and procedures, applicable local/state/federal laws, and the dictates of sound business judgment, prudence, and ethical conduct. The Head Start Health Coordinator is fully accountable to the HS Assistant Director of Health & Safety for their performance, which will be measured against the position description and established performance goals.

MANDATED REPORTER

All KCSL employees are mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect. Failure to properly report to DCF and the supervisor can result in disciplinary actions up to and including termination. See Mandated Reporter Policy in the Employee Handbook for details.
