Position Overview:
Happy Dragon of New York is seeking a dedicated and passionate Head Start Teacher to join our team in Queens, New York. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to early childhood education and the ability to create a nurturing and supportive learning environment for young children. This role does not require certification but does require relevant education and experience in early childhood education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of young children.
- Create a safe, healthy, and inclusive classroom environment that fosters positive learning experiences.
- Assess and document children's developmental progress, and communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding their child's growth and needs.
- Assist with the planning, organizing, and implementation of educational services in a healthy and safe learning environment.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
- Maintain accurate records, including attendance, meal counts, and other required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and other regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting is required.
- Skills: Strong understanding of early childhood development principles, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and effective classroom management abilities.
- Other Requirements: Must pass a comprehensive background check and complete health and safety training, including CPR and first aid.
