Job Description:
Effectively manage all aspects of the women's Ice Hockey program including, but not limited to supervise and mentor assigned staff and student-athletes, recruit, schedule, plan, develop, promote, coordinate, evaluate and other administrative duties as assigned that will continually improve the women's Ice Hockey program.
All full-time coaches have one or more additional administrative responsibility as assigned by the Director of Athletics based on candidate's strengths and department needs. Examples could include, but not limited to: Academic Coordinator, Athletic Communications, Student-Athlete Development, SAAC, Fitness Center Coordinator, or Equipment Manager.
Head Coach ? Women's Ice Hockey (65%)
* Directly responsible for team and individual compliance to NCAA and operating policies within the department and College.
* Design and implement a training program that advances individual and team performance skills, supporting the achievement of the program's purpose.
* Design a competitive schedule that maximizes athlete development and performance.
* Actively recruit athletes capable of performing at desired levels.
* Recruit athletes capable of completing the baccalaureate degree and performing academically at levels reflecting program objectives. Communicate expectations and work toward achievement of a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
* Meet recruitment, retention and graduation rate goals along with roster management numbers set forth by Athletic Administration.
* Relate well to officials, high school coaches, parents, the media, alumni, donors, the public and the MCLA Athletic Department and College staff and faculty.
* Communicate and model standards of conduct and behavior to the athletes in your program. Supervise to ensure their conduct and behavior reflect favorably on themselves, the college, and department.
* Demonstrate a high level of commitment to personal and academic development of student-athletes.
* Work cooperatively with the Director of Athletics and Administrative Assistant in budgeting, requisitions and inventory of all related athletic equipment and supplies.
* Mentor and supervise assistant coaches with the end goals of developing head coach capabilities and supporting all program objectives.
* Attend and represent MCLA Athletics at campus programs, open houses, orientations, accepted students' days and other events at the request of the Director of Athletics.
* Conduct a minimum of two cost free community outreach programs.
* Conduct fundraising events as needed to support program operations while ensuring appropriate guidelines and procedures are followed.
* Play an active role in positively promoting the program and department on social media.

Administrative Expectations (5%)
* Support mission and vision of athletic department.
* Serve as Game Day Supervisor.
* Complete all department, College and conference trainings.
* Attend mandatory department staff meetings and department events.
* Attend/participate in mandatory conference calls/meetings/voting, etc.
* Complete reports, special projects, and other duties at the request of the Director of Athletics.
* Conform to the highest standards of professional conduct regarding compliance with department, institutional and conference policies and procedures and adhere to the rules and regulations of athletic governance organizations of which the institution is a member.
* Contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with all staff, student-athletes, and external constituents through (a) a positive and constructive approach to all tasks, (b) respect for the competencies of others, and (c) appropriate conflict resolution behavior.
* Any staff member who is found in violation of NCAA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedure and in accordance with the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, and a staff member may be suspended without pay or terminated if the coach is found to be involved in deliberate and serious violations of NCAA regulations.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.
* College level coaching or relative coaching/playing experience.
* Proven ability to recruit.
* An awareness of higher education principles, practices and procedures.
* Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively with professional, non-professional, and student personnel.
* Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail.
* Ability to demonstrate appropriate level of initiative.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, benefited position in the APA bargaining unit, with an annual salary of $48,000 - $52,000.
