Contributes to the educational mission of the College by offering direction and instruction in the area of women's lacrosse. About This OpportunityJoining our Athletics team, the Head Women's Lacrosse Coach will be responsible for the following:
- Contributes to the educational mission of the College by coordinating the instruction of student-athletes in the area of lacrosse training and competition;
- Recruits' student-athletes for the women's lacrosse program;
- Instructs methods and strategies and coaches student-athletes in the sport;
- Make recommendations for scholarships;
- Schedules for practices and games;
- Transport and supervise student athletes while on the road;
- Trains and supervises assistant coach(es);
- Responsible for inventory and ordering all equipment and uniforms.
- Monitors specific sports operating budget to ensure fiscal responsibility;
- Monitors specific sport scholarship budget to ensure fiscal responsibility;
- Responsible for the timely submission of the women's lacrosse programs recruiting and countable athletically related activity (CARA) logs and any other NCAA and ECC rule related compliance materials to the Director of Compliance.
- Operates the program under the rules and regulations of the College, the NCAA, and the ECC; understanding that a coach can be suspended for a period of time without pay or terminated if found to be involved in significant or repetitive violations of NCAA regulations;
- Responsible for providing all material relevant to the team (rosters with hometowns, high schools, etc. and schedules) in a timely manner before the beginning of the season, to the athletic communications office. Also, coordinates the manner in which team scores will be reported to the media for home and away games with athletic communications;
- Engages in fundraising activities for both the sports and overall athletics department
- Operates the program under the rules and regulations of the College, the NCAA,and the ECC; understanding that a coach can be suspended for a period of time without pay or terminated if found to be involved in significant or repetitive violations of NCAA regulations;
- Responsible for providing all material relevant to the team (rosters with hometowns, high schools, etc. and schedules) in a timely manner before the beginning of the season, to the athletic communications office (sports information) so a recruiting/media pamphlet on the team can be prepared. Coordinates the manner in which team scores will be reported to the media for home and away games with athletic communications;
- Faculty and staff are expected to maintain the confidentiality of all confidential and proprietary information (including but not limited to student personal information, student grades, employee personal information, etc.), both during and after their employment with the College. If a faculty or staff member has a question about the confidentiality of a particular matter, he/she should consult their supervisor. Any violation of this rule shall subject the faculty /staff member to disciplinary action, up to and including immediate termination of employment.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Required QualificationsRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of coaching and teaching techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
- Ability to drive a personal or college vehicle for the purpose of college business on a regular basis.
- Ability to travel when necessary.
- Knowledge of NCAA legislation and recruiting techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- College playing or coaching experience
- At least two years of experience coaching women's lacrosse at high school, college or higher competitive level
- Valid driver's license required. License must meet insurance company rules and regulations for driving underwriting criteria.
