Job Duties
The Head Women's Soccer Coach at the Virginia Military Institute will organize and direct all aspects of the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Program. This role involves recruiting and retaining talented cadet-athletes, developing a competitive team, and fostering a positive team culture that aligns with VMl's mission and values. The coach will oversee all aspects of the program, including scheduling and conducting regular practice sessions; game strategy, player development, developing, implementing, and enforcing team rules; overseeing the administrative process for team travel, budget, cadet-athlete eligibility, and academic progress; participating in fundraising and public relations activities and compliance with NCAA, conference, and Institute regulations. Additionally, this role will prioritize academic success and character development of cadet-athletes.
Job Responsibilities:
* Monitor the academic progress of cadet-athletes.
* Develop leadership skills and instill core values in cadet-athletes.
* Hire, train, and supervise assistant coach(es).
* Maintain knowledge of and adherence to all NCAA, conference, VMI and Athletic departmental rules and regulations. Team Management: Recruiting, Budgeting, Scheduling, Travel Logistics, Competition and Practice, Coaching and Public relations.
* Coordinate team and participate in departmental fundraising efforts.
* Community Engagement & Alumni Engagement
* Operating of program specific camps and clinics.
* Serve on department and VMI committees as assigned.
* Other duties as assigned by the Athletics Director.
Minimum Qualifications
* A bachelor's degree is required
* Must have a minimum of three years of demonstrated successful coaching experience in soccer.
* Must possess the ability to recruit high schools, primarily in Virginia and the surrounding states; has to have demonstrated knowledge of an ability to comply with NCAA, conference and Institute rules and regulations.
Additional Considerations
* NCAA Division I collegiate soccer coaching experience.
* Experience working with and improving the performance and player development of soccer athletes. Competitive success within a NCAA Division I post-season soccer team.
* Proven track record in recruiting.
* Leadership experience.
