Long Island University (LIU), an NCAA DI institution, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head Wrestling Coach to lead our NCAA Division I wrestling program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in coaching, a passion for athlete development, and a commitment to academic excellence and student-athlete welfare.
Key Responsibilities:
* Program Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive vision for the wrestling program, focusing on both competitive success and student-athlete development.
* Coaching: Conduct effective training sessions and practices, focusing on skill development, strategy, and physical conditioning. Provide individualized coaching and mentorship to student-athletes.
* Recruitment: Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who align with the university's academic and athletic standards. Build and maintain relationships with high school coaches and wrestling clubs.
* Competition Management: Oversee the scheduling and logistics of competitions, including travel arrangements and budget management. Prepare athletes for competitions and provide strategic guidance during events.
* Collaboration: Work closely with the athletic department, faculty, and other staff to ensure a supportive environment for student-athletes. Promote a culture of respect, inclusivity, and teamwork.
* Compliance: Ensure the program adheres to NCAA rules and regulations. Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by the university and NCAA.
* Community Engagement: Foster relationships within the community, promoting LIU wrestling through outreach, camps, and clinics.
* Academic Support: Monitor and support the academic progress of student-athletes, ensuring they balance their athletic commitments with academic responsibilities.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
* Proven experience as a wrestling coach at the collegiate level.
* Strong understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their personal and athletic goals.
