JOB SUMMARY At Wilson School District, we believe that education and service should be shaped by a sense of purpose. As the School Health Assistant, you will help to maintain a well-organized, safe and smoothly functioning health office for all students and staff. Under direction of the school CNA, the health assistant provides basic health needs of students and other employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administers medications under the direct supervision of the school CNA and in accordance with applicable

District policies and applicable State laws and regulations.

Administers and assists with basic first aid following the assessment of injured students and/or staff.

Performs a variety of clerical duties, which may include: inputting information into database; running report queries; making copies; creating labels; filing medical records; preparing routine correspondence; and/or, performing other related activities

Cleans and sanitizes health center facilities to minimize viral and bacterial illnesses from spreading within the school community.

Phones parents to notify them of or inquire about student illnesses or other related information.

Assists in administering mandated screenings for vision and hearing in accordance with applicable policies.

Assists in administering mandated screenings for vision and hearing in accordance with applicable policies.

Provides emergency personnel with critical data and information within established guidelines and procedures.

Assists in monitoring and maintaining inventory levels within the health center.

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: · High school diploma or GED · Computer knowledge preferred but not required · Bilingual Spanish/English preferred · Ability to obtain First Aid, AED and CPR certification within 30 days of employment. · Ability to obtain a fingerprint clearance card

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: · Two (2) year degree or actively pursuing postsecondary education · Computer knowledge preferred but not required · Bilingual Spanish/English preferred · Prior successful experience in health related field

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Skilled in: Skill in operating office equipment and computer hardware and software applications. Skill in performing basic nursing procedures. Skill in maintaining files, reports and other medical documentation. Skill in communicating orally and in writing. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.

We are a Pre-K through 8th grade school district in Phoenix, Arizona, established as the seventh school district organized in Maricopa County in 1879 and named for Mr. W. J. Wilson, a school board member. The district name was changed in the mid-1930's to Hawkins School. From Wilson to Hawkins to Ward to Skiff, the District was bought by Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and relocated to its current location in the early 1980's and named Wilson Primary and Wilson Elementary, opening on Martin Luther King Day in 1985. The district boundaries cover an area from Roosevelt Street to the north; the Salt River to the south; 40th Street to the east; and, 16th Street to the west.
