Overview

Be a leading policy resource for Vermont's Medicaid School-Based Services program at the Agency of Human Services (AHS). AHS's Medicaid Policy unit is seeking a qualified Health Care Assistant Administrator to join their tight-knit team to help low-income Vermonters access quality and affordable healthcare.

The Health Care Assistant Administrator Position has the following Responsibilities:* Responsible for a broad set of Medicaid policy activities and provides a leadership voice related to coverage and eligibility policy under Medicaid School-Based Services.* Manage a $2.5 million-dollar federal grant for the implementation of expanded school-based services. Use state and federal guidelines to work on development, analysis, and implementation of policy in collaboration with other Medicaid and Agency of Education staff and school staff and administrators.* Additional duties include participation in internal and external workgroups and ad hoc policy duties as assigned.

This is a grant funded limited-service position with funding secured through 6/30/2027.Desired Qualifications:* Strong written and verbal communication skills.* Strong organizational skills.* Ability to work in fast-paced office environment.* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting. A valid drivers' license is required and private means of transportation could be needed if a fleet vehicle is unavailable. Conflicting opinions on operational problems may be anticipated. Multiple competing priorities and tight deadlines are a frequent occurrence.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in policy analysis, health care, human services, governmental programs, or related field.

OR

Two (2) years or more experience in policy analysis, health care, human services, or other government programs.

Preferred Qualifications

*Knowledge and experience applying and interpreting rules associated with Medicaid regulations.*Knowledge and experience with Vermont special education programs and services.*Demonstrated ability to coordinate with stakeholders on the achievement of goals.*Demonstrated ability to work with providers and advocates.
