Overview
Goldbelt Professional Services specializes in providing expert resources for Public Health missions including scientific, technical, and administrative support from junior staff to high-level subject matter experts. Research and data driven, Goldbelt Professional Services' experts create solutions customized to the client's needs.
Summary:
The Health Communications Specialist will serve as a communication and marketing content expert and advisor. The role provides consultation and technical assistance to internal and external groups (e.g., CDC staff, associations, and partners) about health communication and marketing programs, projects, and strategy development and implementation.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
* Communications:
* Disseminates information about scientific findings, program activities, and accomplishments through written documents, presentations, and maintaining key relationships.
* Produces written documents that reflect an understanding of program goals and objectives with minimal changes.
* Produces written documents that are technically accurate, well-researched, and adhere to guidelines with minimal changes.
* Obtains appropriate clearances promptly.
* Makes clear, accurate presentations appropriate to target audience and optimally reflect findings.
* Makes presentations (written or oral) that reflect an understanding of scientific literature and developments related to the subject matter.
* Demonstrates communication with other professional staff for knowledge sharing and problem-solving.
* Effective relationships with key officials/parties are maintained with minimal supervisory intervention.
* Effectively represents work units on steering or planning workgroups.
* Program Development/ Implementation:
* Clear understanding of the development and implementation of public health programs through research, project proposals, and effective communication and collaboration with internal and external partners to further the organization's mission.
* Develops project proposals that are responsive to guidance provided.
* Effectively communicates with co-workers and supervisor on work plans and objectives.
* Effectively monitors program activities to optimize outcomes.
* Proactively identifies and addresses problems or issues.
* Proactively identifies problems or issues to management as needed, along with suggestions for resolution.
* Consistently represents the agency in public meetings professionally and respectfully.
* Develops program plans that reflect measurable objectives, clear milestones, and timetables.
* Actively participates in cross-cutting working groups or task force groups.
* Consistently meets agreed-upon timelines.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
* Able to provide consultation, technical assistance, and training on program and project implementation to internal and external groups.
* Apply social marketing practices and health communication theories to enhance program effectiveness.
* Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication in interpersonal exchanges.
* Ability to work well independently, be solution-oriented, motivated, and committed to customer and company success.
* Excellent judgment and decision-making, strong analytical skills, business intuition, and business acumen.
* Advanced use of Adobe and Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Communications, Health Education, Public Health, or related field.
* 4+ years of communication experience in the federal government; specifically public health.
* Experience creating dashboards for projects using various software (PowerBI, Tableau, Sisense, etc.)
* Experience with current Section 508 Compliance Requirements and Clear Communication Index.
* Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's degree in Communications, Health Education, Public Health, or related field.
* Prior experience working with the CDC is highly desired to understand the culture and environment

The salary range for this position is $82,250 to $92,250 annually.
