The Health Education Student Recruiter implements outreach to prospective student populations, works in tandem with CFCC's High School Career Coaches and liaisons, and provides accurate information on programs that lead to health-related careers and their application processes to the public. They also guide prospective students through the enrollment process, may coordinate campus tours, and respond to general inquiries from the public for information related to college programs that lead to health-related careers. This position is funded by the New Hanover Community Endowment grant.***This is a Time Limited, Temporary Full Time Grant Funded Position. Position ends December 2026 with potential to be extended***SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
- Receives general supervision from the Director of the HSEC.
Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions) ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS:Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Essential Functions:
- Act as the point of contact for students who are interested in CFCC's health-related programs;
- Provide students with program specific information and directions (including Parallel Planning ; i.e. back-up plans for highly selective programs);
- Assist with campus visits and prospective student information sessions for students planning to enroll in health-related programs; may include individual and group tours, in-person and virtual information sessions, and other similar programs as assigned by the HSEC Director;
- Become familiar with program labs and other Health and Human Services infrastructure;
- Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with service area schools (school counselors, teachers, etc.) and community-based organizations; this includes in-person and virtual information sessions, and other similar programs;
- Represent and promote CFCC's health related programs at college fairs, school visits, community events and functions, and other recruitment activities;
- Assist with the understanding of the general college application process for prospects pursuing health-related programs;
- Communicate with prospective students (i.e. electronic and phone information requests, including admissions information, enrollment steps, detailed academic program information, career skills assessments, and college services for students interested in health-related programs);
- Maintain database of recruitment and outreach efforts of assigned student group (progression tracking);
- Assist students with making decisions regarding which health-related programs offered at CFCC will best meet their individual needs (Curriculum or Economic & Workforce Development);
- Responsible for representing the HSEC at planned recruitment events, including open houses and other college-wide recruitment functions;
- Collaborate with HSEC Director, CFCC faculty and staff, UNCW grant stake holders, and staff of New Hanover County schools to implement effective recruitment strategies for health-related majors as assigned;
- Work with the HSEC Director in developing marketing strategies, as well as publications used in the recruitment process for Health and Human Services target group;
- Participate at New Student Orientation sessions supporting incoming students majoring in health-related programs;
- Coordinate special projects and other assigned tasks.
Other Important Functions:
- Become familiar with the Intent to Apply /application process for more than fifteen health-related programs including reviewing transcripts and related documentation to determine if program minimum requirements are met as required;
- Participate in the enforcement of the Rights and Privacy Act;
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of recruitment goal setting and monitoring of targeted student populations.
- Knowledge of student recruitment, inquiry management, and relationship-based marketing.
- Knowledge of human relations and personnel practices.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, CRM's, and student information systems (preferably Colleague).
- Knowledge of successful customer service practices.
- Knowledge of virtual outreach platforms.
Ability To:
- Perform related work as required.
- Work well both independently and as part of a team with individuals with diverse backgrounds.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully, both orally and in writing.
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
- Some travel is required. Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle if school vehicle is not available. Driving record must be free of any moving violations.
- Ability to travel to various locations in our service area on short notice.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Minimum Education/Training:
- Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution related to student services, health education, or related field
Minimum Experience:
- One or more years of responsible administrative experience involving public contact.
- Valid NC driver's license with driving record that is within the parameters set by the college
Preferred Education/Training, Experience, Skills:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution related to student services, health education, higher education or related field
- Community College experience preferred
- Experience using a CRM preferred
- Experience presenting to large and small groups preferred
- Virtual outreach experience preferred
