The Health Informatics Support Specialist, Registries will optimize the submission of registry data through providing resources and support to participating institutions in preparing their registry data extracts. This position will serve as an expert in registry specific data specifications and data dictionaries and providing participating institutions guidance on the procedures and protocols needed to extract data from their source healthcare IT systems. This position requires a high degree of flexibility, the ability to multi-task, prioritize and maintain detailed records of communication and data requests; attention to detail; and the ability to work closely with participant sites, particularly IT resources, internal Academy colleagues and other Registry stakeholders.

* Engaging with participant sites to understanding data collection procedures; conduct analysis based on findings to provide recommendations for participant site registry extract development

* Analyze and interpret data and findings to identify opportunities for improvement related to data specifications and data dictionaries; partner with registry data scientist and registry program managers to determine necessary updates related to coding instructions and/or data specification formats to ease the burden of data collection

* Engage with E.M.R. providers (such as Epic and Cerner) to identify extract specification information for sites to guide extract development

* Conduct training related to data specifications and data dictionaries; documenting processing, maintaining records of site interactions, and preparing reports for both internal audiences and participating sites related to data intake and data element completeness within the registry

* Support maintenance activities and projects related to data issues and/or process improvements; inform and participate in quality assurance testing and validation

* Keeping abreast of advancements in the field of health informatics and health care information exchange

**Qualifications:**

**Required**:

* Bachelors degree in healthcare administration, computer sciences or related field

* Minimum of two years experience as a health informatics specialist

* Advanced proficiency in programming languages and EMR software such as SQL, Epic, Cerner

* Exceptional knowledge of health information system design and database management

* In-depth knowledge of best practices in healthcare information management

* Superb analytical, organizational and time management skills

* Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

* 2-5 years of experience in health services research, including real-world experience with data management

* Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, PHI, IRB and other relevant regulatory issues.

**Desired:**

* Masters degree in health informatics

* Familiarity with medical informatics standards such as FHIR or OHDSI.

* Experience with multi-institution observational medical data capture and data analysis schemes

* Knowledgeable of orthopaedic medical devices and of the medical device approval and post-market surveillance processes

* Familiarity with evidence-based medicine, health outcomes, health care quality standards and performance improvement.

* Hands-on experience with private or Medicare claims data

* Additional proficiency with R, Python or SAS and BI software (PowerBI, Tableau)

* Proficiency at interacting with physicians, clinician-scientist, and researchers

* Familiarity of the standard style guide along with the ability to communicate scientific or medical information in a clear and concise manner.

This position is based in Rosemont, Illinois and is open to applicants who are able to commute to this office. Alternatively, the position may be performed remotely and is open to applicants in any U.S. state other than California, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Montana, and New York.
