Job Duties
To support the hospital's mission to provide safe, quality inpatient treatment through direction and oversight of the Health Information Management (HIM) Department while providing expertise related to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) rules and regulations. Through teamwork and external partnering, the HIM Department will accomplish the facility's strategic goal of providing confidential, efficient, and effective services and to ensure that documentation in the healthcare record of each individual receiving services is completed in a timely manner to meet the internal and external needs of the facility while meeting all applicable rules and regulations. To fully support the individuals at NVMHI, this position has been designated as essential to NVMHI operations.
Minimum Qualifications
* Demonstrated knowledge of Health Information Management practices.
* Proficient in hospital-based EHR systems and HIM software with strong data management and analysis skills
* Experience with Microsoft Excel
* Demonstrated supervisory experience
* Demonstrated proficiency in application of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) regulations
Additional Considerations
* Registered Health Information Administrator or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIA/RHIT) certification strongly preferred.
* Graduation from an accredited Health Information Administration program or related field with B.S./B.A. degree or a post baccalaureate preferred
* Experience with AVATAR preferred
* Experience with budget management preferred
