Job Title: Health Information Manager * Full-time. About the Role: As a Health Information Manager at Centre Ave. Health & Rehab, you will: * Display leadership by fostering positive relationships, participate in educational opportunities, and contribute to team and organizational goals. * Supervise and manage Health Information Management Assistants and/or Clerks, with responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; directing work and performance management processes; addressing complaints and resolving challenges in a productive and professional manner. * Assign and sequence ICD-10 codes, audit census and medical records, manage active/discharged charts, fulfill information requests, and coordinate provider document signatures. * Ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines and privacy policies while serving as Privacy Officer and conducting educational programs. * Work with clinical and billing staff on audits, supervise HIM assistant/clerk, manage document requests/releases, purge records as appropriate, and perform other duties as assigned by the Facility Administrator. * Support quality improvement by adhering to processes, using quality tools, and demonstrating flexibility. What We're Looking For: * High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred. * 1+ year of experience in health information management/medical records. * Experience in ICD-10 coding or the ability and desire to learn ICD-10 coding for long term care/rehab setting greatly preferred. * Knowledge and understanding of regulations, payment systems, and professional standards of practice for health information in long term care greatly preferred. * RHIT, RHIA or ICD-10 coding certificate a plus. Skills: * Proficiency in medical coding (e.g., ICD-10), chart audits, and managing electronic health records (EHRs). * Ability to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and other healthcare privacy standards. * Ability to monitor data quality, perform audits, and identify areas for improvement. * Use of quality tools to support problem resolution, compliance, and operational efficiency. * Strong skills in coordinating with clinical staff, billing teams, and providers. * Effective communication when educating staff or responding to information requests and audits. Attributes: * Precision in managing medical records, coding, and ensuring regulatory compliance. * Ability to identify errors and maintain accurate documentation. * Flexibility in handling change, responding to audits, and managing evolving healthcare regulations. * Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure. * Upholding confidentiality and ethical standards, especially in managing sensitive patient information. * Commitment to the facility's goals and patient-focused care.
