- Onsite inspections to ensure and verify compliance; with State and/or City adopted codes, zoning ordinances, and nuisance violations
- Enforce codes and ordinances involving restaurants, retail food establishments and childcare facilities and schools
- Handle complaints regarding various codes by phone, in office, or during on-site inspections
- Safely drive to and from inspections
- Capable of writing and sending out notices concerning code violations
- Maintain records and files, both hard-copies and electronic versions
- Review existing ordinances and makes recommendations concerning new or revised ordinances
- Coordinates efforts with the police, planning, building, fire, and related departments, the city attorney and other staff or agencies, as needed
- Crossed trained to support all functions of code enforcement including, but not limited to; review of construction and remodel plans, food operations, nuisance complaints, and sanitation violations
Minimum qualifications & Requirements QUALIFICATIONSFORMAL EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required. Sanitarian Registration with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation or USFDA Food Inspector CertificationEXPERIENCE: Basic understanding of laws, government, and office operations. 12 months experience in health inspections preferred.OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid Texas Driver's License Supplemental information WORK ENVIRONMENT: Some work is performed in an office environment and may be subject to ordinary risks typically found in an office environment.
