A Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience. Preferred Qualifications: At least two years of experience processing vital records, medical records and/or court records. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and database applications. Knowledge of New York State Public Health laws. At least one year experience supervising staff. Duties Description The Health Program Administrator position will manage the New York State Department of Health Adoption Information Registry (AIR) for the Bureau of Vital Records within the Records Management and Fulfillment Unit. The position will perform the following: manage the AIR database by registering new applicants, updating records, searching for matched cases and data reporting; manage sealed document requests to NYS Courts and New York City Vital records office; review case documentation for compliance with bureau procedures, laws and regulations; review potential matched cases and prepare match letters to applicants; respond to inquiries; conduct searches of sealed and unsealed birth records. Supervision of temp staff and/or permanent members of the vital records team. Additional Comments Contingent Permanent, competitive, full-time. Two year traineeship leading to a G18. Transfer candidates may be asked for SSN to verify title history and eligibility. This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required. This position may require travel throughout New York State including overnights to areas not served by public transportation.
