Health Research, Inc. is seeking a dynamic Health Program Education Coordinator I. In this position, you will contribute lead innovative initiatives aimed at strengthening and enhancing public health continuing education across New York State for the Office of Public Health. Your expertise in training and development, coupled with your knowledge of public health resources and services will ensure learning opportunities leading to positive health outcomes, and eliminating health disparities. The Health Program Education Coordinator I will work within the Division of Public Health Infrastructure's Public Health Continuing Education Unit. The incumbent will engage in various outreach strategies to New York State regional offices, district offices and local health departments to assess and support public health training and development needs of the workforce supporting the Office of Public Health to strengthen foundational public health skills across New York State. The goal of this work is to advance health equity, establish trust in marginalized communities, reduce health disparities, and improve outcomes for prioritized populations. The Health Program Education Coordinator I will aid in training and development work for the Office of Public Health that aim to develop and strengthen public health core competencies in New York's public health workforce. The incumbent will work collaboratively across the Office of Public Health to carry out continuing education best practices in the areas of public health, teaching and learning, and accessibility and equitability in knowledge sharing and acquisition. The incumbent will engage in public health communities of practice, review of learning management systems, collection and dissemination of learning opportunities, cross-sector communications, learning evaluation, and promotion of public health professional development. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing technical assistance for public health learners at all levels to ensure access to the learning opportunities that meet their needs.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related field and three years of experience conducting training programs in health education, public health, health care, or a related field; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of such experience.Preferred Qualifications
  • At least five years of adult teaching, professional development experience, or related experience (cultural education and docent management, public health educator, community health worker, nonprofit training, train-the-trainer etc.).
  • At least three years of program evaluation and quality improvement including knowing when it is time to refresh and or retire programs.
  • At least two years of experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple avenues of information for internal and external audiences and assuring they are accurate, congruent, and up to date.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people of varying racial, ethnic, religious, neurodivergence, mixed accessibility, and socioeconomic backgrounds and intersectionality's.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community engagement and/or outreach initiatives.
  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding of public health issues, health literacy, and health equity.
  • Experience developing and/or conducting trainings, workshops, office hours, communities of practice, learning plans, learning evaluations, and providing trainings for people of diverse backgrounds and varying intersectionality's.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to social justice, health equity, capacity building, and human rights.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • At least three years of experience developing and facilitating training and development that prioritizes the reduction of health disparities and included topics on trauma informed care and social determinants of health and its impact on a person's health and well-being.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral/written communications, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Public health marketing and communications experience.
  • At least two years hosting, and facilitating conferences, webinars or training series, technical experience with Web-Based video conferencing platforms, learning management systems, web-based participant engagement software and project management tools.
Conditions of EmploymentGrant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Travel, up to 25% of the time, will be required.This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location.
