Title: Health & Safety Director - Industrial Plants Location: Long Island City, NY Pay: $140,000-$160,000 Base - 25% Bonus Schedule: Monday - Friday 7am-3:30pm Why Work Here? Contribute your safety leadership experience to an established plant owner operator in Long Island City with the opportunity to support safety programs of additional power generation and production plants in the area. This position will fine tune, develop, and implement safety programs and policies. In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards is a plus as well as a CSP or ASP certification. This role is more focused on supporting the overall safety programs across the fleet and supporting safety specialists across each station. Job Description:
- Adopt and amend existing policies and procedures to align with client requirements and ensure compliance with US Health & Safety legislation.
- Assist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures to meet other regulatory requirements, and monitor adherence, providing reports on non-compliance and corrective actions as necessary.
- Conduct regular site visits to perform audits and inspections of facilities.
- Identify and develop training materials, delivering training to employees as required.
- Support site staff in the creation, development and review of risk assessments and identification and implementation of suitable control measures.
- Assist in the development and implementation of safe systems of work.
- Investigate incidents and significant near misses, review and analyze accident performance and trends, and propose proactive measures to set and achieve improvement targets.
- Aid in the onboarding process of new employees by assessing and fulfilling training requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to the business on all health and safety matters.
- Liaise with competent authorities, as required, to address any areas of concern.
- Maintain both internal and external reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop and update action plans to implement any identified additional controls as needed.
- Foster a network across sites and the wider business to facilitate effective communication on health and safety related matters to enable in the promotion of a positive safety culture.
- Deputize for the EHS Director during absences or when business needs require.
