Victoria Newitt Recruitment has been retained by ABC Recycling on behalf of Skagit River Steel and Recycling Ltd to find a Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Coordinator to be based out of the Skagit, WA location. Reporting to the Director of Health, Safety & Environment, with a dotted line to the Environmental Manager, this position is an ideal role for someone who is looking for a career in the HSE field with potential for growth as our organization expands.

Our hiring team will be looking to assess an individual's skills, qualifications, and potential for growth within the company, regardless of prior experience.

Responsibilities:

· Executes HSE programs at the Skagit's facility, with the potential to travel to project sites.

· Promotes a culture of safety and help managers drive a shared safety culture.

· Prepares safety plans, conduct hazard assessments, incident investigations and risk assessments.

· Ensures all accidents, incidents and injuries are properly reported to all appropriate parties.

· Operate and maintain stormwater treatment system.

· Conducts environmental sampling and inspections (SWPPP and SPCC).

· Assists and participates in audits and inspections.

· Develops risk assessments and safe work plans for on and off-site workers.

· Maintains and prepares thorough documentation and reports.

· Administers first-aid as necessary (first-aid training will be provided if needed).

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· A valid driver's License is required.

· 1+ years' experience working in health, safety, or environmental position is an asset.

· Health and Safety or Environmental education or designation preferred but not required.

· Current first aid ticket or willingness to obtain one.

· Experience with chain of custody, SWPPPs and SPCCs is an asset.

· Physically capable of performing the duties of the position.

· Experience with water treatment systems is an asset.

· Exposure to site safety programs and practices is an asset.

· Proficient with MS Office tools and comfortable with data entry and use of tracking systems.

· An eagerness to learn and contribute and an overall positive attitude.

· Good written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation:

The range offered for this position is: $60,000 – $65,000 (USD) annually.

Compensation offered within this range is based on factors unique to each candidate, including skills, qualifications, experience and credentials.
