Summary
The primary purpose of the Health & Safety Specialist is to assist the Health & Safety Department in daily implementation and activities related to preventing injuries and illnesses. The Health & Safety Specialist plays a key role in maintaining Job Safety Analysis (JSA), physical demands, and helps drive a Safety Always culture. The Health & Safety Specialist position requires attention to detail, ability to understand and interpret compliance requirements, and must be able to work with all levels of employees, maintaining integrity in all aspects of their duties.
The Health & Health & Safety Specialist will report to the plant Safety Manager.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university in Occupational Safety or a related field preferred; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to read and interpret State, Federal, and local laws as it pertains to safety and plant operations.
Digital Literacy
To perform this job optimally, an individual should be proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Training will be provided in the use of internal systems.

No requirements for this role. CSP Certification or willingness to get certified as a CSP is preferred.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wide range of temperatures, humid conditions, moving machinery, dust, fumes, gases, odors, vibrations, and varying noise levels.
There is a high noise level throughout the plant and hearing protection must always be worn while in the plant during production. Wearing other proper protective equipment including metatarsal safety shoes and eye protection is always required while in the plant during production.
