Big Five Community Services is hiring for a:Health Specialist-Covers all NW Oklahoma CountiesResponsible for planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the HeadStart Health Services Program. Responsible for linking Head Start families with an ongoing system ofhealth care, assisting parents in the selection of health providers, counseling them about child or familyhealth problems, and promoting parent involvement in all aspects of the health program. Negotiates withthe Health Advisory Committee and local health care professionals and service providers to ensure thatservices for families are available and accessible. Reviews, evaluates and interprets health records andother vital health service data. Promotes health and safety practices in the program and coordinatessafety and sanitation procedures, first aide and emergency medical procedures. Shares in theresponsibility for the care, safety and well being of all children in the programQUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years of age and have obtained a High School Diploma or GED.Individual from RN, LPN, LPV field highly preferred. College level courses in Early Childhood and theHealth field desired. Two years of experience in working with pre-school age children required. Musthave good communication skills and be capable of working productively as a team member with otherHead Start employees, families and professionals. Must have dependable transportation to travelthroughout the Big Five Head Start area. Must comply with agency policies and procedures. Position willbe located in Central or Northwest Oklahoma. Eligible applicants must pass a DHS Background review.Pre-employment drug testing required. Must have a valid Oklahoma drivers license, proof of automobileliability insurance and a good driving record. Within 30 days of employment must be Pediatric first aid andCPR certified. Employment is conditional pending immediate enrollment in Head Start Orientation. Abilityto respond appropriately (both mentally and physically) to an emergency or a crisis situation.
