Type: Full-TimeReports to: Healthcare Engagement Manager Office Location: 224 W Hill Street, Suite 410, Chicago, IL 60610; required in-office minimum of 3 days per week (hybrid work policy subject to change) Comfortable with regular travel throughout the city of Chicago and Cook County, to engage directly with healthcare professionals, maintain strong partnerships, and deliver on-site trainings. Candidates must have access to reliable transportation and the ability to manage a flexible schedule, including occasional early mornings or evenings as needed. NAMI Chicago seeks to fill gaps in Chicago's mental health system, with an intentional emphasis on racial equity and breaking down barriers to care Who We Are Looking For: The Healthcare Education and Engagement Specialist is a vital member of our team, tasked with advancing NAMI Chicago's mission by raising awareness of our Helpline and fostering connections with healthcare providers and community organizations. This position focuses on outreach, relationship-building, and education, ensuring healthcare professionals have the resources and knowledge to prioritize their own mental health and better support the mental health needs of their patients.In this role, you will deliver mental health and wellness education, trainings, and workshops tailored to healthcare professionals while building strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.The ideal candidate will have:
  • A strong understanding of the healthcare system in Chicago and Cook County.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
  • A passion for advancing mental health equity and addressing disparities in underserved communities.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Identify key healthcare practices, clinics, and community organizations across Chicago and Cook County, developing and implementing strategic outreach plans to maximize engagement.
  • Build and maintain meaningful partnerships with healthcare providers and community organizations to promote awareness and use of NAMI Chicago's Helpline.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for healthcare providers, offering tools and information to connect patients to NAMI Chicago's mental health resources.
  • Plan and deliver engaging presentations, trainings, and educational sessions tailored to healthcare professionals.
  • Analyze data and trends to measure the impact of outreach and education efforts and refine strategies as needed.
  • Align outreach initiatives with NAMI Chicago's mission to promote equitable mental health access, particularly in underserved communities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of community engagement strategies, particularly within the healthcare sector.
  • Understanding of healthcare systems and the challenges healthcare providers face in addressing mental health needs.
  • Exceptional facilitation skills, capable of delivering informative and engaging sessions tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex mental health topics clearly and empathetically.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities, capable of handling multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously.
  • Collaborative team player, able to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Solution-oriented problem-solving skills, focusing on practical and impactful outcomes.
RequirementsQualifications & Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, public health, healthcare administration, education, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in community engagement, marketing, customer service, or sales roles. Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or related fields preferred but not required.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word), Outlook/Exchange, CRM tools (e.g., Bloomerang), and other software routinely used by NAMI Chicago.
