Why does the job exist?The Healthcare Surveyor III will:
- Train and develop experienced Healthcare surveyors on current compliance survey processes and updates for the Medicaid Waiver Home and Community Based Services, i.e. Developmental Disabilities, Mi Via, Medically Fragile and Supports Waiver;
- Provide 1 on 1 training and mentoring for new employees and will provide support to training existing surveyors who may need additional training;
- Participate as team leaders and members, as it relates to conducting on-site interviews, observations, record reviews, and completing reports of findings;
- Provide 1 on1 assistance and mentoring and is needed;
- Provide support to the Plan of Correction Coordinator as need.
How does it get done?Healthcare Surveyor III is responsible for:
- Conducting and participating in Healthcare Surveyor orientation, QMB Survey Process Training, including Core Competency Training.
- Creating and developing surveyor training as needed and will conduct annual surveyor training.
- The initial and ongoing mentoring new and experienced Healthcare Surveyors / Survey Teams.
- Evaluating the quality of the work completed by the trainee.
- Participating in surveyors as a mentor, team lead, and team member, as needed.
- Maintaining knowledge of and provide education regarding various data systems used in the survey process (Therap, Medicaid, Smartsheet, etc.).
- Maintaining knowledge of all services standards, rules and regulations associated with the Medicaid Waiver programs monitored by the Quality Management Bureau
Who are the customers? - Individuals receiving DDW, Mi Via , Med Frag, and Supports Waiver services;
- Families/Guardians;
- Provider Agencies;
- The community at large.
Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate has:
- Knowledge of applicable Federal and State standards and regulations affecting programs and agencies involved in providing waiver services.
- Mentoring skills and ability to teach others to prepare, participate in and complete compliance surveys, including completing formal report of findings.
- Ability to coordinate and provide leadership to the trainee / survey team by providing clear, concise and accurate information.
- Experience working as a team player
- Excellent skills in gathering data, interpreting and analyzing the data and making informed decisions based on evidence gathered.
- Ability to complete all required HCA, DHI and DDSD trainings, and have knowledge of the QMB survey process.
- Excellent customer service to internal and external customers
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
Minimum QualificationBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Architecture, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Rehabilitation and /or Criminal Justice and two (2) years of experience in community based healthcare services and case management. Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must Possess and maintain a current Defensive driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. overnight travel , as need.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office setting with constant laptop and phone usage. Work is also performed in the field when travel is required for surveys. Travel may be in the post of duty or overnight. Travel occurs frequently.
