Why does the job exist?The Healthcare Surveyor III will:
- Perform surveys and investigations in healthcare facilities to determine their level of compliance with State and Federal regulations.
How does it get done?Healthcare Surveyor III is responsible for:
- Interviewing residents/clients and staff of healthcare facilities;
- Evaluating the facility environment to ensure it meets fire safety and infection control standards;
- Reviewing records;
- Ensuring resident/client rights, quality of care and quality of life meet regulation standards.

Minimum QualificationBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Architecture, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Rehabilitation and /or Criminal Justice and two (2) years of experience in community based healthcare services and case management. Employment RequirementsMust possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must Possess and maintain a current Defensive driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. In-state travel with frequent overnight stays averaging one week at a time, is required. Some out of pocket expense with reimbursement is required.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in an office setting and in long term care facilities with phone and extensive computer usage. Some sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending reaching and lifting up to twenty (20) pounds may be required. In-state travel with frequent overnight stays averaging one week at a time, is required. Some out- of pocket expense with reimbursement is required.
