Healthy Home Environmental Assessor Overview:Our organization seeks an impactful self-starter who shares our core belief that every child deserves to grow up in a healthy and safe home, and every aging adult deserves to age in place with dignity. As the Healthy Home Assessor, you will play a vital role in promoting safe and healthy living environments for families. By conducting thorough environmental assessments and collaborating with our team, you'll help families reduce energy loss and home-based environmental health hazards. You will have the opportunity to create safer, more sustainable homes for our community. Here are more ways you will make a difference:Environmental Assessments and Inspections:
- Conduct comprehensive home environmental assessments and housing inspections.
- Develop detailed Scopes of Work for healthy homes, addressing lead hazard reduction, mold remediation, integrated pest management, asthma triggers, indoor air quality, and household safety.
- Install essential safety measures in program properties to reduce hazards.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with GHHI team members to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Educate families on risk awareness and prevention techniques based on assessment findings.
Data Reporting and Planning
- As required, accurately report data in GHHI's Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) Client Database.
- Maintain accurate data records and prepare project reports in accordance with standards and regulations.
- Develop and monitor annual project work plans, identifying program goals and benchmarks.
Additional Responsibilities and Requirements
- Participate in weekly departmental and monthly Maryland Programs team meetings.
- Maintain responsibility for internal reporting and assist the Housing Intervention Services Director in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual external reports to various funding agencies.
- As needed work with the Marketing and Communications team to highlight success stories to share with the public.
- As needed, engage in community outreach through meetings, health fairs, and community events to enhance program referrals and establish valuable partnerships.
- Provide suggestions and recommendations on policy and program best practices.
- Foster a positive attitude, mutual respect, and a collaborative working atmosphere with all GHHI staff and clients.
- Support broader mission and policy efforts and initiatives of GHHI.
- Perform other duties as assigned related to organizational mission and programs
Minimum Requirements of Education/Experience:
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work with diverse clients and stakeholders.
- Minimum of two years of experience in home energy audits or a relevant field as a housing inspector.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and follow projects to completion on schedule.
- Attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data collection.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Ability to pass the Maryland Lead Supervisor or Worker exam (GHHI will provide for costs).
- Ability to pass the EPA RRP Rule Renovator exam (GHHI will provide for costs).
- Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, HIPAA regulations and compliance
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Flexibility, initiative, and a collaborative spirit.
- Must be a passionate, mission-driven professional with a strong work ethic.
- Desire to work in a team environment to produce impact in the lives of low-income children, families, and seniors.
Position Specific Requirements:
- This position will involve duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle. The incumbent must maintain ready access to a motor vehicle, possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license in the State of Maryland, and have auto insurance.
Preferred skills:
- Building Performance Institute credentials or willingness to obtain them.
- Maryland Pest Control Applicator certification (IPM experience preferred).
- Spanish language skills (helpful but not required).
