Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight and Management:
    • Oversee and manage day-to-day field activities on construction sites.
    • Supervise and direct the work of field personnel and subcontractors.
    • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure all project aspects align with timelines and standards.
    • Establish project plans, schedules, and deadlines in collaboration with stakeholders.

    Safety Management:

    • Implement and enforce safety protocols, procedures, and compliance measures according to OSHA and company standards.
    • Conduct safety inspections, audits, and toolbox talks regularly to maintain a safe work environment.
    • Identify potential safety risks and hazards, applying corrective actions as necessary.

    Quality Control:

    • Ensure quality standards are met or exceeded through proper inspection and adherence to specifications.
    • Conduct reviews and approve construction activities, materials, and completed work.
    • Monitor work for compliance with design plans, codes, and regulations.

    Scheduling and Coordination:

    • Develop and update project schedules, ensuring adherence to project timelines and milestones.
    • Coordinate material deliveries, equipment, and personnel to optimize project efficiency.

    Budget Management:

    • Monitor project budgets, ensuring adherence to cost projections.

    Communication and Reporting:

    • Maintain clear communication with project stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and team members.

    • Attend project meetings to provide updates and receive instructions.

    Problem-Solving and Decision-Making:

    • Address and resolve field-related challenges, including weather delays, technical issues, and subcontractor performance.

    Qualifications:

    • Education: High school diploma or GED required; a bachelors degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is a plus.
    • Experience: 8+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
    • Certifications: OSHA certification, First Aid/CPR, and specific construction-related certifications (e.g., CM-Lean) are preferred.
    • Technical Skills: Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment for heavy civil projects. Proficient in project management software and tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project).
