Job Description:

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Concrete Civil Construction Superintendent to oversee the execution of concrete work on major civil infrastructure projects. The Superintendent will be responsible for all aspects of site management, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating the activities of the concrete crews and subcontractors. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in civil concrete construction, including foundations, retaining walls, roadways, and bridge structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Supervision: Lead and manage the daily operations of concrete construction activities on civil projects, ensuring that work is completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest standards of quality.
  • Crew Leadership: Oversee the activities of concrete workers, foremen, and subcontractors. Provide guidance and direction on the installation of formwork, reinforcement, and the placement and finishing of concrete.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating the timing of concrete pours, material deliveries, and labor to meet project deadlines. Collaborate with the project manager and other trades to ensure seamless workflow.
  • Quality Control: Monitor concrete construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, civil engineering standards, and applicable building codes. Conduct regular inspections to verify the quality of formwork, rebar installation, and concrete finishing.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that all work is conducted in compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Conduct daily safety meetings, implement site safety plans, and perform regular inspections to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Materials Management: Oversee the ordering, delivery, and use of concrete and related materials on-site. Ensure materials are of the specified quality and that all testing requirements are met (e.g., slump tests, cylinder tests).
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve any issues that may arise on-site, such as technical challenges, weather delays, or material shortages. Coordinate with project managers and engineers to resolve any conflicts or discrepancies.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, concrete pours, safety inspections, and crew timesheets. Provide regular updates to project managers on progress, potential delays, and budget tracking.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, architects, and client representatives to ensure that all concrete construction meets design requirements and project goals.
  • Project Closeout: Manage the completion of punch lists, final inspections, and ensure that all as-built documentation is submitted for final approval.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil concrete construction, with a proven track record in managing large-scale infrastructure projects such as bridges, highways, and utilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of concrete construction methods, materials, and techniques, including formwork, rebar, and concrete finishing.
  • Familiarity with civil engineering specifications and building codes.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and lead crews and subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of construction blueprints, civil plans, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) and the ability to maintain accurate records and schedules.
  • OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel to job sites as needed.
